Usaa service is second to none, no cutting corners in using cheap parts etc, finally Usaa is different be cause they are non profit so guess what happens at the end of the year you get a dividend check depending on how they perform.

As much as they deserve all the loathing they receive, they DO PAY when the policy covers whatever you are claiming, they just triple check looking for any escape from liability.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Sometimes you just have to laugh: Called Liberty Mutual to notify them that my wife had recently passed away and to have her removed from the existing 3 car policy. After I inquired how the change would impact my premium I was told my bill would go UP by $600/year. (BTW, I have a spotless record vs hers) After asking how that could possibly be the case I was told "you are losing the two driver discount". I said "what if we take her name off the policy but leave her as a listed driver?". "We can do that" they said and there won't be any change in annual premium. I ended the call by telling the representative that my policy is expiring in 30 days and they can be assured I won't be renewing with them. Time to check out Haggerty, etc,...

Absurd. We upgraded our roof to a steel roof since we are near Forest land. Less likely to burn that way. Insurance premium goes up because the house is worth more.

POST 3Original post

I switched from Liberty Mutual to Allstate a few years ago and my new rate was about 1/3 of the previous rate. Here's another "funny" insurance story. My wife's new car was t-boned, rolled over and totaled. It had 2,400 miles on it and was 33 days old. If the car had been 30 days old they would have replaced it dollar for dollar. Because it was 3 days over that, it cost me $8500 out of pocket. Good times.

POST 5Original post

I love insurance companies. Business model is real simple. 1.Take your money. 2. Don't give it back. Genius.

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

As much as they deserve all the loathing they receive, they DO PAY when the policy covers whatever you are claiming, they just triple check looking for any escape from liability. Over the course of my life I know I'm a net winner, having collected on my homeowners 2x when my basement flooded. Of course they cancelled me immediately after the 2nd claim.

Have you seen if you qualify for USAA?

POST 8 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I haven't but I will investigate. Got a Haggerty's quote for all 3 cars which was $800 lower than current LM, with my agreed upon values for the 03 and 09 4s. The hunt is on....

POST 9Original post

Quotes source post: 17651360

Ah that's right and that didn't even cross my mind. It probably doesn't apply but when I checked on insurance, USAA already insured my Touareg with all the weirdo things I have installed. USAA ended up being less than Haggerty with the same coverage however 800 less is damned good too.

POST 10Original post

It seems like you have to switch companies every few years to keep your rates down. That's what I've had to do. History with the company doesn't seem to count for anything. I was with Allstate and I had an at-fault rear end accident about 15 years ago that caused damage to my truck but none to the other car. I think it was my first claim ever. I'd been with Allstate for around 20 years at that point. Ten years on my parents' policy (my dad had been an agent for them) and ten years on my own. After the claim, they almost tripled my rates. I talked with my agent who was an old co-worker of my dad's and I'd known since I was seven. He said there was nothing I could do but change companies. That's what I did. Of course I'm never using Allstate for anything again. Sorry for your loss.

Second this! it you are a veteran, spouse (or ex spouse) of a veteran) or the child of a veteran you qualify for USAA. Best insurance out there by far.

POST 12 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

My father was a veteran but has been gone for 32 years and my father-in-law is an 89 year old Vet who no longer drives. Having no other military connections, their website seems to indicate that I would need to have my father-in-law become a customer first. Probably not going down that route but I will keep this thread going as I search for rates. Best so far is approximately $2500/yr to cover 2009 4s (agreed $80k value), 2003 4s (agreed $50k value), and 2014 Chevy Volt (no collision coverage). Liberty Mutual was actually charging more for the Volt with no collision coverage than my 996 4s with full coverage. Makes you shake your head.

POST 13Original post

My insurance agent, is someone I went to high school with and his father is a friend of my fathers. Maybe not the least expensive, but the service is good and he shops multiple brands to handle my home, business and personal as well as business vehicles. On the other hand, I have friends who swear by Amica. Probably multiple ways to go.

POST 14Original post

I just got agreed value policies from Grundy for 3 of my 996 (45k each), an 08 RS4 (55k), and a 944 S2 cab (30k) for $1200. Much less than Hagerty was quoting. My regular insurer, State Farm, said they are offering Hagerty agreed value policies now, but it still was more expensive.

POST 15Original post

I recently switched to Porsches Auto Insurance program and my rates pretty much blow away all other companies. They only offer Agreed Value coverage (which is the best) and have no mileage limits. Ive got my 99 insured at $27k and 6k miles/year and my 987.2 Spyder insured at $90k and 2k/miles per year. Im paying less than $800 per year total. An added bonus is that their repair coverage stipulates for a Porsche Certified shop at minimum, or any shop of your choosing. The only drawback that Ive been able to find with their coverage is that that any diminished value claims from an accident wont exceed 10% of the cost of repairs. That could vary from state to state but thats what it says for my GA policy.

POST 16Original post

Quotes source post: 17651709

my father was a vet too. You qualify just give them a call. I was with them for like 26 years, then all of the sudden geico was cheaper like $900 less every six months. So I went to geico happy to say after 6 years Im back with Usaa and better yet great rates. Usaa service is second to none, no cutting corners in using cheap parts etc, finally Usaa is different be cause they are non profit so guess what happens at the end of the year you get a dividend check depending on how they perform. My only suggestion keep them honest. Also they offer a bunch of other services I also have a credit card and a savings account with them. I carry higher limits of coverage because I dont want no one coming after what is mine in case of an at fault accident. All accidents in my life not my fault. Another cool 😎 thing with Usaa someone hits your car and they have ****ty insurance, talk to them Usaa will take care of you and they will go after the cheap insurance themselves, so less hazle. Finally keep good paper records of all work etc on the car because In case of total loss their appraisers will work with you. As soon as you can put that Usaa sticker on your car, cops will be more lenient with you, I can attest to that.

I went with Hagerty and am amazed at the level of service and communication. They made getting an agreed value policy on a 20 year old car very easy. My premium was much lower than what I was paying with the former company (no agreed value). I got their bi-monthly magazine last week and it is targeted toward special interest/antique owners and is very well done.

POST 18Original post

I recently added my 16 year old and another car to my policy. Yes, ouch. Did it online and noticed my 95 year old mother who lives with us was listed as a driver. Called them up. Explained to them that my mother has not had a license since the late 80s. Asked them if Ive been paying extra for her. Answer: no, your premium is actually going up a couple hundred bucks every six months because of her good driving record. Couldnt talk mom into going to the DMV to get a license.

POST 19Original post

Quotes source post: 17651030

I can't believe it either. I was in the same boat a year ago, but with AllState. 3 vehicles and only me listed now. I can't even drive more than 1 vehicle at a time, lol. So, theoretically, dropping my wife should lower the chances of potential accidents by 50%, right? My rates went up immediately as soon as I reported my wife as deceased and was considered back in the " single male, high risk category". At 54 years old, perfect record, no claims whatsoever!!!!!! The agent was kind enough to say "Yeah, we have complained to corporate, but they don't know how to deal with your situation. Here's my sister's phone number who is an insurance broker and can take care of you better than we can". How funny is that!!!!!!!! Needless to say, I'm with another carrier and his sister is an awesome agent.
