Apparently well documented, I made the mistake of throwing parts at the problem, first replacing the crank position sensor with no luck, and ultimately narrowing the issue down to the evap purge regeneration valve which fixed my issue.

The car had been repaired nicely and issued a rebuilt title.

I used some tape to keep the white epoxy from staining the front of the switch blank and used a bolt to pull the nut snug against the inside face, firmly embedding it into the epoxy without gumming up the threads of the nut.

Yes, I will be dropping the sump soon when I change the oil.
These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hey guys, been lurking on this forum for a while getting my new to me well loved 99 C2 up to baseline. I figured now would be a good time to introduce myself and make a small contribution. I will be using this thread to document my progress and contribute knowledge and experience gained along the way for others to find and hopefully use!
About me: For a long time my passion has been 90's era japanese 4x4's namely Toyota Land Cruisers. I have a fairly lengthy build thread of my other ride here:
https://forum.ih8mud.com/threads/pip...thread.958056/
I know enough to get myself into trouble when it comes to working on vehicles and I tend to get myself in over my head fairly often, but always manage to dig my way out. I have done my share of engine swaps and rebuilds on BMWs, and Toyota's but this is my first Porsche.
I made up my mind that I wanted a 911 about a year ago and set my alerts on CL and Marketplace. About a month ago, she popped up and I knew (because of the price mostly) that she was the one. A 99 Carrerra C2 with 140k miles, nice wheels and suspension, and a salvage title. The seller had pictures of the previous damage and it was all cosmetic caused by an encounter with a concrete barrier. The car had been repaired nicely and issued a rebuilt title. No idea about previous maintenance, IMS, etc, so all of that is in the works for this winter, but for now, I am having a lot of fun hooning around town like a jack ***.
First order of business was fixing an issue with hard starting while hot. Apparently well documented, I made the mistake of throwing parts at the problem, first replacing the crank position sensor with no luck, and ultimately narrowing the issue down to the evap purge regeneration valve which fixed my issue. TIP: Cut the old fuel hose leaving enough length to use a 3/8" quick connect and a small length of replacement nylon fuel hose to make the connection when replacing this valve with the $35 Bosch replacement part. Easy peasy.
Next, I learned not to leave my stupid idiot dog in the car when running into daycare to get my kid. New seatbelt inbound from ebay junk yard. Dog came close to reenacting Old Yeller that day.
Next I devised a cell phone mount solution using one of the unused switch blanks on the dash. I think it turned out pretty nifty. I removed the blank, drilled a hole in it, and epoxied a square 1/4-20 nut to receive a ram ball mount. Worked pretty good and is surprisingly sturdy. We'll se how it holds up.

Ram mounts are the best cell phone holders ever created!
Good looking car for 140K .
Do you plan on dropping sump to check cylinders and see if theres any bits floating around down there? What month/year was she built?
