Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Back in the 2000, Porsche Cars Australia took a Speed Yellow 996 Turbo out on a incredible excursion to prove the capabilities of the brand new all-wheel-drive system implemented in the type 996. The trip was absolutely absurd but, I've always wanted to know what happened to it and who owns it know (or if it is in the Porsche Museum.)

POST 2Original post

Anyone have more info on this car? Was anything done to the suspension? looks like it was raised.

POST 3Original post

They probably scrapped it after that river crossing. Maybe when the car was brand new the awd worked better than the 996 awd cars I have owned. Pretty useless in this sort of terrain

POST 5Original post

It wouldn't have been in 2000 as that's an MK-II

Was there ever a MK-1 996 Turbo? Maybe they meant the story was done in 2000 for the 2001 first year Turbo. Maybe that only applies to the U.S.

POST 7Original post

@wyovino - the Turbo always had that headlight style. It was the GT3 that had a Mk I / Mk 2 headlight style although the Mk I was never available to us in the USA. The turbo headlight was adopted to the Carrera as a solution the "problem" (at the time,) that the Carrera and the Boxster looked the same from the front. Remember 20 years ago people hate-hate-hated that.

This is a source reference. Confirm exact model applicability in the original material.
