Suggestion

OP probably should have been changing oil on a more routine schedule with DT40, or maybe this calls for some kind of direct oil feed....., Solution.

that's why it worries me to replace a smooth spinning bearing just because it's old

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

13 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 1 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

My fellow NE 996 track mates saw me lose my belt in the last session yesterday. I thought it had broken but it was the pulley had seized. The bearing does not turn. All three are new with about 8 hours of track time. The other two seem fine. Anyone else have this happen? The belt did not break.

POST 2Original post

Can you list the brand and source? Maybe these are defective or something?

POST 3Original post

Glad you got it figured out Brad. Someone with more technical knowledge than me will have to chime in on the "why" here...

I got all three from FCP. This one was a Sebro. I can get a new one under FCP warranty.

POST 5Original post

I have steel pulleys if needed. Next time dont get the cheap plasic one .

Good source for the metal versions?

POST 10 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

By the looks of it I dont think it being plastic factored into it. The bearing seized then the plastic melted around it. The pulley was probably spinning and then became **** eyed and the belt came off.

POST 11Original post

Remind me to pay for the expensive Porsche parts next time .... Sebro, damn,

POST 12Original post

It would be fascinating to pry that dust shield off and see what the inside of the bearing looks like.

OP probably should have been changing oil on a more routine schedule with DT40, or maybe this calls for some kind of direct oil feed....., Solution. ...., wait what bearing are we talking about this time?
