Good thing is that you can always shop around and find OEM parts at good prices and the joy of a well running car well outweighs it.

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.
14 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

I need a new MAF sensor so I went internet surf and came back very confused I wanted to stay Porsche stock but the price difference is huge

please help find the right one at the right price
thanks Mike
Porsche has to add in all the design/R&D costs to anything that carries their name/trademark. Its not all that complicated... The oem parts are the same stuff that Porsche uses when building the cars... you make the call!
It's not whether one can afford a Porsche, it's whether you can afford to maintain it! Good thing is that you can always shop around and find OEM parts at good prices and the joy of a well running car well outweighs it. Usually hah!
So, two weeks ago I bought a Bosch MAF for the 996. Put it in, it caused a CEL light and code in 2 days. Something about the Ambient Air Temperature being low. I checked the actual voltage coming out of the MAF and it read 300mV for the Ambient Air temp signal. I thought that was off.
So, I pulled the old Porsche MAF board out of the garbage, re-installed it in the car, and checked the Air Temp signal... it was at 3.5 Volts (10 times bigger). Bingo. Reset the CEL, drove it, all is good.
Lesson learned: when it comes to MAF, go straight to the dealer and BEND OVER. Anything else will not work. This is the second time a cheaper MAF board has failed me, so no more.
^^^Correct^^^ In addition, they buy/order thousands at a time which gets them significant discounts and leads to a major income/profit stream down the line. All manufacturers use this model - not just Porsche. It just so happens that Porsche is an exclusive/pricey brand... Take it or leave it
