Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Leading evidence: 'Use on fleabay' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is 'culprit' (1 discussions; 0 report identifying it and 1 suggest it). The most frequently discussed action is 'Run last session' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

Suspected cause
I originally thought mine was, until I had enough and ponied up the $40 or whatever, spent a good 15 - 30 minutes wrestling it out under the dash, and surely enough, it was the culprit.

I was tracking the car in June @ RA, had a great day and was ready to run the last session.

These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi all,
Just found out my brake warning light on the dash was NOT the brake switch, and that the PSM module is on fritz.
Any one w/ ideas on how much for parts and labor on this, and if I can try to order this part online to be cheaper and take it to indy?
Thx.
Patrick

I've currently got PSM woes myself and just dropped my car at my Indy If it is the PSM module, can anyone confirm I can swap out a used one or are they coded for the original car they are installed in and must purchase a new one and have it coded?
Thanks.
Well....there are a few one ebay, but I don't know why this one didn't come up initially, maybe because I didn't put the dots between the part numbers.......but this is my favorite seller.....$225 shipped or best offer.

And I see they have a second one for $187.50 OBO

Good luck!
OK, I'll add the obligatory Yoav Gilad advice of "Take it back to the guy you bought it from and demand that he buy it back from you."

I brought this thread back from the dead to ask a related question and everyone jumps on the dead posts? Is the PSM CONTROL module coded to the specific car or can they be swapped between cars? My Indy seemed to think they were coded but I'm hoping they aren't. $1500 vs $75
Guess I should look at the dates! I highly doubt there is component protection (i.e. if it does not have the VIN associated with it, it won't work, which is how current production cars work)....so I'm going to say it's plug and play, but don't take my word for it....wait for somebody to post or call the dealer and ask to the parts guy.
I have not seen anything in Durametric that suggests the PSM module is serialized to the car, but I'll do some further digging to see if the serial number or another identifier is displayed.
Good question. I’m not positive it is the module but I’ve come to hope for the best and expect the worse on these cars. I was tracking the car in June @ RA, had a great day and was ready to run the last session. I started the car and got the ‘PSM failure, Drive to Workshop’ warning. Car performed flawless the entire day prior to that. New AGM battery was 2 weeks old. Brake lights and brake switch appear to be in working order. Ignition switch recently replaced.
I dropped the car off at my indy yesterday evening to be diagnosed (Going to Barber next month) Like I said, I can grab a used control module very cheep and am hoping it’s a fix that’s plug and play. My indy seemed to think they were coded but I have my doubts so I was looking for a more definitive answer from Rennlist.
False Alarm. Sorry gents.
My Indy just called me and diagnosed the issue. It's not the control module, it's the PSM Pre-Charge Pump. $2250 new. $100-$300 used on fleabay.
How do you know the brake light switch is good?
I originally thought mine was, until I had enough and ponied up the $40 or whatever, spent a good 15 - 30 minutes wrestling it out under the dash, and surely enough, it was the culprit.
Prior to my purchasing the car, the previous owner threw parts at it like no tomorrow, including the PSM pre-charge pump with a NEW one. All it took was a $40 switch and they couldn't figure it out.
Any way, I hope you can sort it out. Good luck!
The pump is dead. Through Durametric codes and physical observation he determined the pump is no longer with us. Pushing up daisies....
Thanks for all the input guys.
Update: He replaced the pre-charge pump and found the control module is throwing + voltage to the pump ground. This is likely what toasted my original pump the original pump.
Now back to confirming whether a used module will work as is or if it requires coding to my car.
