Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I am in the market for a used 911. Please let me know if the below prices seem fair from a private non dealer party and if the 2003 version is worth the extra money, when considering slightly higher miles. I will get a PPI in advance. Thanks
2001 911 coupe 45k miles for $21,500
2003 911 4S coupe 55k miles for $23,500
Both are 6 speed manual. 2001 has sunroof, not sure if the 2003 does. Both seem to be in excellent condition and garage kept as second cars. Regular service has been performed. No IMS issues noted. Thank you
There are a lot of other variables (options, condition, etc..) that are needed to really answer that question, but 10k miles isn't much of a difference.
Unless there is something special about it, the 01 might be a tad high on its price. Conversely the 03 May be a little light on its price which could suggest something else going on.
Everything else being equal, the 03 has AWD, is a wide body, and has the 3.6 motor rather than the 3.4.
The c4s with those miles and that price....something is wrong with it.
I never understood the vague what do you think of this car (s) post. So many variables to consider. If you have a link to the cars post em up.
The C4S is definitely priced too low, especially with that mileage. Personally, I wouldn't spend that much on a 2001 C2 though. I purchased mine for $15,900 with 98k on the car, 38k on the engine.
I would definitely go with the 2003 car if the PPI checks out good. Has it had its 60k service done? Probably time for a water pump soon too if it hasn't had it done.
If mileage isn't a concern, groovzilla just put his 4S up for sale and I can vouch for him as a seller. The one identified above seems to be too good to be true if it's a "no stories" car.
I specifically looked for a 4S because of the wide body, and turbo suspension and brakes. I have been very happy with my decision. Good luck with your search!
Excellent point. While I do not know Groovzilla, he seems a completely straight-up guy, and knows his way around Porsches. Perhaps you should chase the lower price point car from a known entity. Mileage? Meh.
Spend another $2000 to replace the IMS, and you're still ahead of the game. Plus, you've done a solid for a Rennlister.

The C4S seems very cheap. That'd be 23,500 GBP in the UK with that mileage. Prices in the UK have gone up a lot over the past 12 months. Good luck with your purchase, the 4S is the better car.
I guess it all depends where you are, this is my old 4S in top class condition advertised at $22k, likely to go for under $20k

As you all suspected, the 4S has a salvage title.
Would getting the 6 speed manual 2001 911 with 45k miles for $20k be a fair price? It's below KBB and TMV. It is listed for $21.5 but planning to negotiate. This is of course if the PPI checks out.
Thanks
I don't think that's unreasonable at all depending on options. I picked up a well optioned 2000 C2 last year with 49K on it. Listed at $21,500, agreed on 20K even.
Indeed, a manual would be about $15-$17k here if you could find one.
Yawn..........
Merely posted as a juxtaposition to Bobster996's comment on UK prices.
