Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

18 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I've owned my 996 for about 18 months. In that time, I've done a bunch of projects. Rennlist, Renntech, members and it's sponsors have been a huge resource. I'm wondering how much total labor and diagnostics they have saved me? I'm guessing at least 20 hours. All the little DIY's - pumpkins, speakers, LED's etc. Plus the slightly more involved projects; SSK, serpentine belt, headlight switch etc. I have to believe the labor rate in the DC area is $75+ an hour. That's $1500+! Plus the satisfaction and pleasure of fixing something on my own. It's allowed my to keep my Man Card up to date. I'm bit handy, but hardly a true wrencher. Thank you Rennlist, Renntech (Loren), sponsors and members.

POST 2Original post

The advice here is priceless. As far as the amount of time I have wasted on this site...

POST 3Original post

If it wasn't for this site I'd still be trying to find a good place to put my cell phone. Hands down great community 50/50 Half world class technical help/ half utter nonsense

POST 4Original post

Saved me? Let's see, replace pumpkins, update wheels, replace CD holder with cubby, LN engineering IMSB, smarttop, ashtray delete, add cup holders, add trunk liner, fister d exhaust, Dr. chip, 101 projects for your 996; I know there's more, so I'm estimating my savings at ~(-$7500). But I've never had more fun doing the mods and exchanging knowledge with the RLers... The best!

POST 5Original post

About a dollar....definitely about a dollar. But seriously, it's probably a wash. Things I did myself that saved me tons of money and things I've done that I wouldn't have otherwise done that cost me tons of money.

POST 6Original post

This site has cost me money doing mods and repairs I never knew I needed. But, all was redeemed with boobie pics.

POST 8Original post

If it wasn't for the fear mongering on this site and thanks to KK and many other folks, I have ended up spending an extra $4000 in a matter of a year that probably was not necessary. But the entertainment factor is priceless. And I'm sure I'm going to spend another $4000 on mods if I keep this up.

POST 9Original post

boobies........makes me happy and I get to see them here for free. cannot put a price tag on happiness.

POST 10Original post

Cost me Thousands in mods, upgrades and maintenance I never knew I needed. Still wonder if I do. Kept me up countless nights worrying about the imminent doom my engine is facing. Hours spend on searching for what do I do next that I don't need. Multiplied by 3 cars. All in all best site ever with free boobies and *** pics. Not to mention a solution for where do I keep anything I can think off. All and all I am ahead. Best Porsche site ever!

POST 12Original post

I think the fear mongering has cost some owners a pretty penny. Then on the other hand the fear mongering may have saved a few folks $20k. Just need to sift thru the B.S. I was swayed into replacing my Mobil 1 with Joe Gibbs DT40 motor oil based purely on the assortment of posts I've read here. Necessary or not I'm not certain but at least it only costs me $100 twice a year.

POST 13Original post

On the last job which included, aos, starter, fuel line, fuel injectors, and vacum hose i would say it had saved me $3-5000.

POST 14Original post

About 2000 in my first week of Porsche ownership already, with tips on how to fix the spoiler hydraulics. Not really a hard job and some instructions are available elsewhere, but reading about the tips and success of others why tried it did give me the confidence to take a wrench to my expensive new toy.

POST 15Original post

Saved? Thanks to you fools, I change my IMSB every week...

POST 16Original post

I learned where the switch is to raise my spoiler manually. I learned where to put a bunch of stuff I learned there is a whole nuther world of car owner here.

POST 17Original post

Both rennlist and renntech have both saved me and cost me $$$ for those of you who aren't paying rennlist members or have already donated to renntech, here is where you make amend.... https://rennlist.com/forums/payments.php http://www.renntech.org/forums/donate/

POST 18Original post

Yeah, this is like your wife telling you how much she saved because everything was on sale. I'm guessing I'm out about $25k, thanks to this website. If I still bought Porsches, but didn't know about RL, I'd probably be out twice that.
