Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

10 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Looking for some advice on what I feel in my car. 01 996TT- 6 spd 35k miles. recently did clutch-engine and tran mounts hoping the feeling would go away. Feels loose between gears at low speed, slack in the U joints is what I would compare to in conventional car. Nothing broken, car is in excellent shape and well maintained. Any suggestions on what I need to address and do you know what I am talking about ? Thanks

POST 2Original post

Please describe in more detail "feels loose between gears".

POST 3Original post

Have you tried adjusting the shift cables and then looking for slip in the gear shift bushings? These are simple and might be easy to resolve. I did both in mine recently. While not as big an improvement as the trans and engine mounts, I could tell the difference.

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

feels like motor is moving when taking off in 1st. also when parking at low speed feels loose like drive line is moving on mounts. All are tight, been under and checked all connections i can see. I should mention that i converted to 2 wheel drive some years back. Didnt feel like this after thus why I recently changed (had changed) motor mounts and Trans mount. Thanks for your interest

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

NO, never have done that and not sure how to. I will research. Thank you

POST 7Original post

What did you replace the motor mounts with? OE...something else? I've got 146K on my car and it is tight as a drum. Shifts are tight and so is the car.

POST 8Original post

Thanks for the added info - check the tightness of all the suspension components, all four wheels. And like DBjoe says, check that you might have a failed mount. It happens, right out of the box.

POST 9Original post

Perhaps the CV joints in your drive shafts are worn? Although I admit it doesn't really fit your description as you'd normally hear instead of feel worn CV joints.

POST 10Original post

You would definitely feel worn/loose cv joints. If youve done those other things you mentioned Id have a lol at them for sure.
