Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

0 discussions have direct query context; 0 report a fix in that context. Other evidence may inherit the discussion’s subject.

Suggestion

Heres my question: how much weight could be removed in the car, such as changing the seats or using a lightweight battery, to equal to 10HP gain from an exhaust change?

Suggestion

If one was already going to replace their exhaust by dropping a couple thousand dollars, then why not also get one that has some HP gain - I get that.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

12 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

You Tube interesting. I love the idea of reducing weight of 50 lbs but absolutely hate excess noise

POST 2Original post

10hp at the wheels is pretty good for the muffler; I feel like it makes sense to skip the cat delete. Youre right about the weight too.

POST 3Original post

So a total of 14hp by running straight pipes. Not much of a gain.

POST 4Original post

What everyone looking at this needs to consider is everything except the peak figures... I can look at those curves and see a lot more than you guys can, I could tell more if I was in the car doing the test myself... The feedback through the car/ engine is more important to me than the dyno plots, or "data".

POST 5Original post

Yeah, I also dont like super loud exhaust systems. Heres my question: how much weight could be removed in the car, such as changing the seats or using a lightweight battery, to equal to 10HP gain from an exhaust change? If one was already going to replace their exhaust by dropping a couple thousand dollars, then why not also get one that has some HP gain - I get that. But if its HP we are after or light weight, the battery and spare tire is where Id start. Then seats.

POST 6Original post

I didn't word my response well. What I meant was straight pipes gave 14 peak and a gain across the board of about that. I would think that straight pipes are the best you can do to free up an exhaust. So any exhaust system you add will not top the 14 number. So with a stock engine, Porsche pretty much designed the exhaust to work very well and adhere to noise limitations.

What they didn't show was the direct AFR values in these tests.. Corrections made will net different gains. This series of Bosch ECU will further enrich the AFR values with a more free flowing exhaust, and do so at a rate that will cripple net power. I am currently experiencing that right now.. Like 5 minutes ago, as I continue development work.

I actually thought it was a lot of power gain. What you're saying is it could even be more

I've been searching for some affordable yet nice CF seats. I thing the front seats are 50 lb each

POST 12Original post

Im keeping my stock seats for now. Id like to swap them out someday. I have Planted floor mounts and side mounts, but no racing seats yet. Since my car will return to daily driver status some day, I need very comfortable seats for my daily commute. Some racing seats Ive considered state theyre not for waists above 36. That wouldnt work for me or my occasional passengers. I need something that will fit 38. I have considered Recaro Sportster seats, but I want to try them out first.
