Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

A proper insert makes the world of difference (used a Mitsubishi VP15TF CCMT3252) with .00025/.0003'' passes on a CNC lathe, I can't speak on a standard bench lathe used in most repair shops.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

10 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Ive been waiting a couple weeks for my new discs to come in. I was wondering if people resurface their discs of the thickness is okay. These are 330 mm. thanks

POST 2Original post

Sure, but discs are one of the cheapest parts on this car, so I would just but new.

POST 3Original post

If you're replacing them, aren't they to thin already?

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Good questions. I guess I am just getting impatient. I was hoping to get this done over my vacation week. I guess Ill just hold steady. Thanks.

POST 5Original post

Quotes source post: 17127761

Should have kept it all together until the new parts arrived.

POST 6Original post

Not to derail your thread, but how do you like those jack stands? I'm thinking about getting a pair do they get in the way of accessing other areas under the car?

POST 7 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Well they sent the wrong parts. The good thing is the car is stable. Blocks underneath if stands fai, All bolts loose, parts cleaned, pistons pushed back. Should be easy reassembly. Yes, usually I dont take apart until I have everything. Stuff happens. Thanks all.

POST 8Original post

I have a friend that owns a local shop and is guru Porsche mechanic. Back in the early 70's he was the FIRST American to ever be accepted to the Porsche mechanic's school in Stuttgart. (His Dad was a big wig in Porsche and knew the Porsche family). Any way, he says NEVER TURN A PORSCHE ROTOR!!! Yes, in that tone. So I'll defer to his knowledge...and recommend you do also.

POST 9Original post

It is possible, but I personally wouldn't do it. I'll go through two sets of pads per rotor, then replace. Thickness variance, run out, and presence of hot spots/stress cracks would determine turning or not. I've personally turned them in the past for an RSX-S and 135i, both drilled and slotted rotors. A proper insert makes the world of difference (used a Mitsubishi VP15TF CCMT3252) with .00025/.0003'' passes on a CNC lathe, I can't speak on a standard bench lathe used in most repair shops. Both cars are daily drivers (not tracked) and in the past 3 years are still going strong.

POST 10Original post

don't know how much it cost to have them turned, versus new. I think it's close enough that most people just buy replacements.
