Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

We used the factory harness and all gauges work (we used the Porsche senders with adapters) except the tach.
Leading evidence: 'Use factory harness and all gauges work (we' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Replace necessary' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

All transmission and driveline was direct bolt up, no changes necessary.

I would definitely be interested to hear more about clearance issues, trans-axle adapter, mounting bracket plate, harness adapter work (if you used the factory harness at all), etc.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

OK so I bought a 2001 C4 awhile back at a salvage auction. Car had 166k miles and cost less than $1200 to repair. I have no idea why they totaled it. I put a harness bar, and a couple of Sparco Evos, and some track tires and ran it til it died the IMS death. So now I have a salvage title 911 with no engine. Can't be worth over 4k right? I have a 4.3 V6 Busch series Chevy that made crazy HP and is an 8000 rpm engine. I know it's heresy, but I am gonna put it in the car. Why? Because I have it and it's ready to go. I have the fab skills to make it happen so why not. I will post pictures in a day or so.
Car is an absolute beast. I've got the rev limiter set at 5k until I get a few miles on her. The engine just hits another level at about 4500. Very odd to hear the sounds coming out of that docile looking little car.
Easiest conversion I have done to date (and I have done several). Very pleased so far. Weather permitting, I am going to do a track day/shakedown on Friday.
I actually started a couple of weeks ago, so we had everything ready to go.
I do indeed plan to do the Turn 1 day at CMP, again weather permitting.
Are you going?
spaceshuttle, thank you for posting these pics, and please keep us updated. Any details you can share are appreciated. This is a very impressive conversion.
I love that license plate frame.

Air Intake in on the front side. We had to refashion/raise the rear deck under the rear glass due to the excess height of the nascar intake manifold. The NACA ducts in the quarter windows blow fresh air right about where the breathers lie at the front of the firewall.
Very cool! I haven't see a race V6 conversion before, and it makes a lot of sense in a track car. Any idea how much HP that motor makes? Be sure to post some video of this beast
Pretty sweet looking work there!

We estimate HP @500 to 550.
Kennedy Engineering did the adapter plate, pressure plate, and clutch disc. They just started doing that particular transmission for a small block chevy and that will work with the 4.3 V6. The 996/Boxster S trannys had only been available for LS conversion until recently (from Kennedy). Renegade has these parts as well. It all bolted up in about 20 minutes.
We used the factory harness and all gauges work (we used the Porsche senders with adapters) except the tach. The tach on the Porsche works off either the crank or cam sensor, and since this engine has neither, we just ran one of the tube tachs with built in shift light on the drivers side windshild pillar(off the MSD Box).
The only bracket we had to fab was the front engine mount, which we did and mounted directly to the existing Porsche mounts.
All transmission and driveline was direct bolt up, no changes necessary. I opted for a remote water pump, but we actually had room for a conventional short version.
Clearance would not have been an issue if I had not insisted on the huge nascar/bowtie intake.
I have converted 3 914s and a 944 LS and this was by far the easiest.
I just bought lowering springs. The car is sitting high due to the LACK of weight.
I removed AC and PS plus my exhaust is way lighter. Engine with exhaust only weighed 300lbs. I think I probably lost 150lbs overall.
Op, you really should make a kit for people to buy with your talent/skills. I'm sure it could be worth your while considering Renegade's kit is pretty outrageous for what you're actually getting.
1st and 2nd gears are so short, I'm not real sure just how quick it would be time wise at the strip, but from a rolling start it hits 120 very quickly.
You are correct, the conversion parts are expensive. Just the tranny adaptor, clutch, pressure plate, and throwout bearing is a little over 2K, but I think I have little less than 3K in everything except the engine cost. This engine is obviously more expensive than a milder 4.3, but hey, it should make over 500HP. 450 conservatively.
