I know numerous parts from 996TT can bolt right up to the 996 C4 (i.e.)-I'm running Turbo coil overs now that we're a perfect fit.
Leading evidence: 'Run turbo coil overs now' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Check clearance' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

Not sure on size of rotors I'm currently running - didn't look them up.

Suggestion
If you are going to need additional fade resistance for the endurance or long track racing, another option is to use the 350mm GT3 rotors and Audi S8 calipers.

I know that the C4S is supposed to use the same breaks and suspension as the turbo, but I do not know if that will line up with the C2 axles.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Don't think it worked since he ended up selling them later on.
Howdy all, I recently purchased a set of Turbo Big Red brakes/rotors for my '99 C4. Has anyone done this conversion yet? I know numerous parts from 996TT can bolt right up to the 996 C4 (i.e.)-I'm running Turbo coil overs now that we're a perfect fit. I'm just looking for a little insight before I tear into the car. I believe the hubs and stub axels are the same, or so I hear. Read online that I might need a shim/spacer in order to get the rotor centered in the caliper...appx. 1.5" IIRC. If anyone has experience regarding this swap, I'd love to hear from you. Best Regards, -Josh
Is there an easy way to tell the difference between the 996TT & 993 Big Reds? Rotors I picked up are 13" - thickness measures 1 5/16" vs. 1 1/16" thick for stock brakes currently on the car. Not sure on size of rotors I'm currently running - didn't look them up. They are definitely smaller diameter though.

I know that the C4S is supposed to use the same breaks and suspension as the turbo, but I do not know if that will line up with the C2 axles. It would be interesting to learn.
I think granger968 tried to do this on his C2, he had 996 turbo rotors and calipers. Don't think it worked since he ended up selling them later on. PM he may know for sure.
Copy that.
Mine is a C4 though. I believe the AWD front end has more in common with the C4S and TT than a C2. Just a hypothesis, but it seems probable. I know the C2 is different - found that out when I tried to bolt up some PSS9's that came off a C2. The rears were the same, but fronts were a no go. I ended up bolting on a set of RUF PSS9's that came off a 996TT. They fit perfectly. I'm surprised at the lack of info out there regarding this brake swap. I'm going to move forward nonetheless. I will give an update as soon as possible.
It will not work on your C4 unless you get C4S or Turbo hubs. IMO, it's not worth updating to turbo calipers as your existing calipers work fine since you are dealing with stopping less weight. You are better off spending money on better pads/fluids.
If you are going to need additional fade resistance for the endurance or long track racing, another option is to use the 350mm GT3 rotors and Audi S8 calipers. I'll be doing this when the weather gets warm as 6pots are $3k+ on the avg.
Are you sure about that? I seem to remember that the 996 MK2 GT3 is NOT the same as the MK1. I seem to recall comparing that the (2004) GT3 has different hubs than a C2 (GT3 piece is bigger), and the C4S/turbo (GT3 does not have provision for the drive axle). I do believe the MK1 996 GT3 may share some parts with the Carrera of similar vintage, but not the C4/C4S/Turbo.
all the 4wd front hubs are different to 2wd front hubs for obvious reasons.
Gt3 mk1, turbo, and the c2s and c4s have 142mm iirc caliper bolt spacing. C2/4 is 130mm.
You can use an offset stud adaptor a bit like the rudtner racing jobs.
I can't be sure about the mk1 vs mk2. I thought there was only a power jump from 360 - 380. Though mk1 was suppose to be closer to a 996 cup car then the mk2. I don't think they would have scrimped on brakes on the mk1
C4S/Turbo/GT3 all use the same caliper mounting bolt spacing. The mk1 gt3 is a moot point for peeps in the US as we never got them nor can we get any parts for it. The c2 and c4(non c4"s") models share the same caliper mounting points. Is that clear as mud?
