Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Looks like a killer price. Has anyone tried these?

They look sharp. My 955 CTT has some ebay LED's from the PO that look great, very OEM (957 style). I'm pretty anti aftermarket tail lights and headlights though...but am thinking about these for my 996.
Those are Spyder brand, do yourself a favor and pay a bit more and get Depo brand. A big difference in quality, fit, finish, reliability. I've already seen several Spyder branded lenses chipped or cracked due to inferior plastics used.
There is a better price on Amazon.

I have had the Spyder version for almost 2 years and have had zero issues and (IMO) they look great - especially at night.
Also Amazon is great regarding returns. If you don't like them, send them back.
I've also had zero issues with my Spyders but would I get them again? Probably not. I've compared the Depo's and Spyder's side by side and they are quite different in quality. Spyders are fine as long as you are very careful with them and do not touch or let anything else touch them in any rough manner(ie rock chips, etc), especially in the cold temps where the inferior plastics can be more brittle.
The thing that I have always liked about the Spyder lights is the that they maintain the original 996 tail light design and they simply update it with LEDs. The Depo lights are fantastic, but they mimic the 997.2 design. Personally, I prefer the simplicity of the original 996 design. I think it looks better with the lines of the 996 body.
Here is a pic of mine...
Somewhere I did read about someone putting a rubber "lip" around the edge of the light to give it a more finished look. I never got around to it.
Dennis is right in that you can see how the clear part of the light matches up with the curve line of the car and wraps around to the back.
My car is garaged 99% of the time and has never seen snow or freezing temps for that matter (and very rarely sees rain) so I have no idea how they hold up in a harsh environment.
I managed to score "scratch and dent" 997.2 style Depos for $270. Looking at the picture, the left side unit has a small crack in the plastic. I am excited to see what they look like. I also ordered some LED replacements for the license plate lights.
LED tails came w/ mine when I purchased it...no idea what brand. Looks like it's time to go check. I'm leaning toward selling mine after seeing those FVD's though. I like the updated look
Depo also has the traditional style or at least used to sell them. I personally can't stand the 997.2 style lights on a 996 since the clear portion isn't 100% proportional to the originals. If you look, the corners slant down on a 996 vs 997 lights that slant up. From a design aesthetics perspective the clear portion matches better with the slant up taillight shape.
Price seems high, I pay $289 for mine 2 years ago. Sold them for $250 and upgraded to decante for $750 after 2 years. They work great no problems if you hook it up properly.
That's a good point regarding the slant. I just ordered the Spyders from Amazon and will install one Spyder, one Depo and post a comparison picture once I get them.
I agree completely. In fact, I don't like the 997.2 style lights on the 997.1. I thought I would, so I bought a set and installed them on my 997.1. I've already removed them and sold them. The 997.1 tail light is shaped differently than the 997.2 tail light. I just ordered a set of the OE solid red tail lights for my 997. I can't wait to get them installed...
Right now I have the factory tail lights. My Depo 997.2 style were delivered from ECS Tuning today and I just ordered a set of clear rather than smoked Spyder 996 style LED tail lights from Amazon, which should arrive on Friday. In a previous thread, I was musing as to whether smoked or clear looked better on a dark blue car since I feel that the factory smoked tail lights look a little strange. My plan is to install one Depo and one Spyder to see which I like the most. I'll also be able to make the call as to whether I prefer the clear or smoked look. Hopefully I'll be able to do this over the weekend.
If you keep the clear one's make sure to always keep them waxed or sealed as the UV rays will yellow them slightly over the long haul. This is where there is an advantage on the smoked ones. I have the clear ones but will be customizing them this summer.
I ended up purchasing the Spyders on Amazon. Price was too good to pass up when combined with my AMEX points.

Should arrive Saturday. I'll report back on my experience.
Installed the lights and am pretty pleased with the result. With a little adjustment, the lights fit well and we're pretty much plug & play. I have had no issues with rapid blinkers or cruise control not functioning. IMHO they look pretty trick and update the rear nicely. Need to get the matching 3rd brake light to complete the look.

Sorry if I missed it, I know they come smoked but did you smoke tint them darker or that's them out the box?
Looks dark but really nice...
Might have to purchase a set myself; ty for sharing
Thanks 888MVMT. That's how they came. I think the dreary overcast weather makes them look darker in the pics than they are. Sent from my iPad using Rennlist
Got the Depo 997.2 and Spyders. Still not sure which I like the most. Here are some comparison pictures:
L-R: Original 996, Depo 997.2, Spyder clear
Left: Original 996. Right: Depo 997.2
Left: Original 996. Right: Spyder clear.
Left: Spyder clear. Right: Depo 997.2
After comparing the Spyders and Depos side by side, I am returning the Spyders. While I like their lens design, I am unimpressed with their quality: 1. The lens is -very- susceptible to scratches even during installation. This is highly noticeable on the clear lens that I bought. They would definitely need a plastic film applied to protect them.
2. I do not like the reuse of the factory harness. I had them working yesterday and when I wired them up again today the 7.5A fuse for the sidelights and tail lights blew. This might have been due to my installing the peanut LED connector with the incorrect polarity. With a factory connector like the Depos this possibility of incorrect installation is not possible.
3. The reuse of the P21 reverse light rather than replacing it with an LED seems cheap. A pair of error free substitute LEDs is $45.
4. I had fit issues and I am concerned about how well the assembly would "seal" to the body to prevent water accumulating behind it.
5. There are no instructions provided and the YouTube videos and PDF on the Spyder website apply to a 997. The only actual video I found was on the Del Rey Customs site and they no longer sell these lights.
All in all I felt that these lights cheapened the car even if they look aesthetically pleasing from distance.
