Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

1 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks to this forum, I was able to self-repair the broken rivet for the tension cable on my 2000 996 cabriolet top (see: https://rennlist.com/forums/996-foru...ght-pics.html# ). Unfortunately, due to my amateur skills, I lost the screw that attaches the tension cable to the lower arm of the folding frame. Here's a photo from the other thread showing the location of the screw I lost: After removing the screw from the other side of the top, I've determined that the screw size is M5x1.25x8. It seems that this screw size does not exist in the wild. Pretty much all web searches return Nominal 5mm screws/bolts with a 0.8 pitch. It also appears that this screw is not documented in the parts manual. I've checked illustrations 811-07 and 811-10 (catalog available here: https://www.porsche.com/all/media/pd...96_KATALOG.pdf ). I can't recall where I heard this, but maybe the screw is included with the tension cable (811-10 pos 7). But I really don't want to buy a $100 part for a $0.05 screw that may or may not be included. I've been to the parts dept of my local dealer and they couldn't help. I also tried calling Suncoast with no luck. So now what? Any suggestions on where I can find this screw? Do I have to jam some other standard self-tapping screw in there? (I'd like to avoid that.) Thanks for any and all suggestions.
