Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Just got a 2002 C4S. The airbag failure warning light in now on steady. I'm trying to avoid a 50 mile trip to the dealer (still under warrenty), if it's something I might be able to fix (fuse, etc.) Any ideas? Thanks.

POST 2Original post

Dealer has to turn it off and find out why it went on.

POST 3Original post

No easy way other than the dealer. Unless of course you have a PST2 in your garage.

POST 4Original post

Black electrical tape over the light works wonders!

POST 5Original post

I suppose disconnecting the neg battery terminal and leaving it for a while doesn't work??? Do they put a small battery somewhere to hold bits high or do they actually use PROMs or equivalent?

POST 6Original post

Disconnecting the battery will turn off a check engine light which is an emission fault, but not an air bag light fault.
