First time I have done this and, as always, thanks to the community for the helpful threads on things like this. I noticed a small amount of oil on the flap and then some oil build up on the outside of one of the intake runner connections. I would appreciate a few looks from the group to tell me if there are any clues to future issues. I read online that 996 motors are particularly susceptible to Coronavirus so I want to be extra careful. Oil on the drivers side. Clean on the passenger side (US).

It all looks completely normal to me. If there was blow-by from the AOS it would be completely soaked with oil....and there is always some by the very nature of how the AOS works. I always lay a towel underneath the TB when removing it. If one of the bolts drop you're in for a long search. Always a good time to replace the TB O-ring as well.

I admit, I don't know what normal looks like, but mine looked like that when I put the motor in cleaned it up and 6 months later my AOS failed. So a simple test will put it to bed...

The inside of the intake had some traces of oil but so little it didn't really show up on my towel. But a little amount on the tb flap was prompted my post. I have been meaning to buy a manometer to start testing that so maybe this is the impetus to order one. I know these cars can end in tears but it�s been entertaining to keep up with little things like this. I wonder sometimes if my unconscious brain thought that my b6 S4 just wasn�t enough of a ticking time bomb so I had to step it up a notch. That car has 195k and has been relatively trouble free the whole time other than the timing service at 175k. thanks again for the comments.
