Hello all- Hope you are all haveing a great summer. My conv. top has the creaks, actually it is quite annoying; sounds like a creaky wood floor. Brought it in to the dealer, they indicated "lubricated the hinges." Picked my car up, and the problem is still there. Any thoughts? Also on both sides of the top, roughly above the window splits between front and back, there are wear marks on both sides. Have you had this issue? Thanks for your assistance. Gary 04 C2

The top probly need to be adjusted. The flocking panel (pc of plastic on the front section of the top that makes the frontal area stiff) may be warped and need replacement as well. Go to another dealer and tell them this is the second complaint on the same issue. It's obvious the dealer didn't test drive after the lubrication. They should.

I have an 00 and the top creaks a little going over speed bumps and the like. I've also had it to the dealer once for a lube job; that cut down on almost all the creaks. Definitely take it either back to the original dealer and complain or to another (hopefully more competent) dealer.

Is it creaking with the top up or down? If it is creaking with the top up, then it is simply the header gasket needs to be lubricated. Spray some silicone lubricant on the rubber gasket on the top of the windshield frame, and inside the 2 mounting points on the sunvisor attachment plates. But before you lube it up, clean off the gasket and the top header bow with some simple green or like, to get off the dirt build up. This solution is also useful when putting on the hardtop.
