Hi all,
Over the past few days/weeks I've had a cascade of electrics issues that seem interrelated.
- DRIVING LIGHTS TURN OFF WHEN ENGINE FIRES: Low beams will work when the ignition is on, but motor is off, when I fire the motor, they turn off. I've tried different combinations of having the lights on/off when firing the motor and turning the ignition on without firing.
- FAN TURNS OFF WHEN ENGINE FIRES: similar to the light situation, when ignition is on, but engine not running the AC fan will run. When I fire up the engine, the fan turns off and I begin profusely sweating in the northeastern humidity!
- DOUBLE HORN TOOT WHEN OPENING DOORS: When opening the doors, either when motor is running or it's off, the horn will double toot when the doors are opened or the frunk is opened.
I did have some water damage six months ago which required replacing the water drains (I kept noticing dampness in the footwells in the rear and passenger side. I can't help but think it's related although it's strange to have the 6 month delay in some of these issues appearing.
Things I'm going to try
- replace all fuses
- disconnect and reconnect battery
- replace light switch (but this doesn't feel like a likely solution given the other issues)
Anybody have similar experiences here or questions you might be asking yourself?

I�ll jump in and +1 on the ignition switch. My steering wheel won�t lock and have similar issues you mentioned and all signs point to that being the culprit.
Resolved!
I realized the keys were not 'snapping' back after firing the engine. It was getting stuck in a 'no mans land' which resulted in loss of power to the systems I mentioned. My shop replaced the ignition and now I'm all set with no issues.
