Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

The problem with the lock was the arm on back of cylinder was not inserted properly when I changed the door latch mechanism.

Used a screwdriver to lift the taillight and found the release cable for the engine.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

2000 Cab. Battery dead, can’t unlock door with key or remote. The emergency hood (engine) release is not were it should be. The emergency trunk release isn’t working, no give no matter how hard I pull. Any other way in or suggestions?
Key wont open in lock? Dont understand that. Key ever work in lock? Could ignition cylinder have been replaced and not keyed to match door.
If can get in, you can apply power the fuse box in the drivers footwell. Directions in the manual.
There are also posts on fishing out the cable release through the tail light.
Key won’t open lock, I turn and nothing, I thought since all the micro switches it was an electrical issue. Last Sunday opened fine, not sure if it was key or remote. Nothing done with ignition switch. Can’t get into car at all. I followed the instructions in Bentley manual but release is not by taillight wear it should be. I have owned for almost a year,1st time battery went dead.
Took off the rest of the screws on the bottom of the rear bumper. Used a screwdriver to lift the taillight and found the release cable for the engine. Used a pick to grab it and it opened.
Put a jump starter battery pack on the engine connections, still nothing from the remote and key won’t open lock either. Battery pack light shows connected properly. Not sure how to proceed. I assume jump start point on engine would supply power to entire car not just the starter.
Called AAA, they opened with inflatable thing. After turning off alarm key fob works to lock and unlock, I forgot the receiver powers down after several days of inactivity. Key still will not turn lock cylinder, that appears to be the issue.
With my luck today maybe I should check that too. The problem with the lock was the arm on back of cylinder was not inserted properly when I changed the door latch mechanism. So disassembled and reassembled and working now.
You can see something is missing from the trunk release to hold emergency wire in place, that is why it would not open.
Here is another shot without the wire or my hand in the way.
