I'm also not entirely sure that John could sweet-talk Michelle into copping a squat - his interactions with females need to be lubricated with $300 oil changes.

Surprised he didn't set up a "gofundme" site to help pay for his repair bills as he sips his latte and struggles to read a vin number.

These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

It appears the OP didn't get the response he was looking for, deleted the story link, and closed the thread. Here's the link to the idiots article:
http://www.thetruthaboutcars.com/2015/07/money-isnt-everything-what-an-8500-porsche-996-really-costs/
Commence torching.....
http://www.thetruthaboutcars.com/201...-really-costs/
Just read it again for ****s and giggles! You know what It's even stupider the second time.
In other news there is a village somewhere out there...... And I found their idiot.
I love this line from the "You gotta be rich to own a cheap car." article the OP referenced in his article. RFN, that is a term I will be sure to use in the future!
"Hell, even my R107 560SL, which should have been about as thoroughly debugged as a car design could possibly be, was chock-full of stuff that was NLA (no longer available) from dealers or the aftermarket but RFN (remarkably f*cking necessary) to the vehicle’s satisfactory operation."
Some friend, pair of clowns scheming together to create a complete BS article about some "fake" sale and how the new "owner" needs our pity.
Surprised he didn't set up a "gofundme" site to help pay for his repair bills as he sips his latte and struggles to read a vin number.
We should set up a "gofu*kyou" site in his name instead.
Well I'm done now, going to enjoy my well documented P car I purchased from a complete stranger, who became a friend.
Happy Weekend!
I didn't find the article that bad, 8500
With that many miles, what the f**k did he expect. If you don't understand , love the 996 it might seem like a nightmare , I had an airbag light come on 6 month ago, had it turned off, hasent come on since. Did my own regulator , not a hard job.
Just drive like it supposed to be drivin, have some fun, it's only a few grand more than a roller
Yes I closed the original thread as my intention was to share a funny story and some very cool pics of my vehicle adding irony to the story - end result while reading the replies this morning showed a clear example of how things get quickly out of context on web forums and bring the worst behavior in people.
The calling of names, judgement placed and vitriol expressed was the last thing I wanted for such a thread to occur. It happened... It's life on the web... I moved on...
And you have to admit that such cheapo 996 with no IMS issues is quite ironically funny...
Just read your post about me in the other thread. There is a big difference between paying $14,000 for the car in question and paying $8500 for the car in question. at an $8500 purchase price the original seller is completely in the right in this scenario. Why you feel the need to attack me personally is beyond me. Although, I am flattered that you would put the time in to go through my posts and pull something that I said a long time ago. Have a nice weekend.
The writer bought a car for less than half what it should have cost from someone who was CLEARLY clueless (i.e. unable to recognize that he possessed a title for a car he no longer owned), yet seemed surprised that the car had unresolved issues.
$1500 at a non-pirate Indy would have addressed most of those issues, including the intermittent check engine light that the author didn't bother to diagnose, and he would still have had a $10K 911 better than some of his other recent acquisitions.
While it's true that there are plenty of low-dollar lemons out there, there are also plenty of great cars that have been meticulously maintained. The author bought an unmaintained piece of crap. I don't quite understand how someone who writes for the automotive press is puzzled when his half-price car turns out to have unresolved issues...
This was yet another article that implies that the 996 is a POS when in fact the PO was a tool and the buyer didn't do any due diligence to learn whether the car was a steal or just a turd with worn clear-coat. If you buy a thoroughbred for glue-factory money, you'd probably assume the horse isn't in top shape...so why would an "expert" expect a problem-free 911 after shelling out a paltry $8500?
Illustrating an article about an $8500 911 with photos of a completely different car iced this sh*t cake perfectly. Had he kept this car longer, I imagine he would have filled it with diesel and pontificated about the terrible German engineering evidenced by flaming chunks of cat shooting from the tailpipes.
Your car looked great! The "forum" was annoyed with the buyer. And yes it is ironic that the cheapest driving 996 ever sold had an IMS bearing that was still going strong 150,000 miles later. The car was so obviously a steal even with several items needed, and let's face it this board has about a 3 second fuse on practically every issue known to Porsche.
It's not just a tough crowd, it's an angry, bitter, condescending mob, but I grew up in Philadelphia so to me they all seem so nice.
I think the real breakthrough here is that Agent Jester figured out how to get around the dreaded "thread lock". So, JohnnyIrish, look out. Also, Schnelly, this ensures your GWIT996F will live on ad infinitum.
Wow, that was fast. Clearly Jalopnik is reading these forums or people are tipping this kind of stuff off to them.
Wonder if Tavarish has a secret user account here...
Wow. I read the first thread, and this continuation thread, and the linked article, and the Jalopnik deal, and I have formed a conclusion.
Everyone involved, and maybe all 996 owners to some extent have a vagina, and just can't wait to increase the drayma(sic) quotient as high as possible. Y'all remind me of my daughter when she was 12, and gave a mighty whine; 'buuuuut, I waaaaaaaaaaaaanttttt to go to Lisaaaaaaaaaaaa's house' with a sniffling, lip quivering groan.
If this were any other car forum, a few punches would be thrown, and some swear words then we'd all go down to Twin Peaks for a few beers, and a shot and watch some Rugrer from New Zealand.
Have a nice day. Tool
I can't say I understand HOW the collective dismay about a shabby Jalopnik article reminded you of some whiny-*** tween, but I'm glad you were able to harken back to a time before the raging case of herpes, all three (3!) weddings with no-show grooms, and that one incident with the highway patrol after
someone
got just a little too deep into a box of Gallo chablis.
Oh, and "Lisa" was actually named Javier.
Happy belated father's day.
Tool.
Ah Schnell, docmirror trolled you good. When things get boring on the 928 board, doc migrates over here to try to stir some sh__ up. Normally, thanks to JohnnyIrish and KK and Hurdi et al, his provocative posts get overlooked. Not today though - he really stepped up his game.
Doc - Congrats, you win. Now stfu, get off the computer and run up to Little Elm to do that Rennfax for me on that 2001 996TT.
I think I'll be up there on Fri afternoon, best I can do. Doubt it will sell before then. I've got a ODB-II I'm gonna try and get the codes off, but it's been giving me trouble lately. Will let you know. As for the other stuff, meh - no harm no foul.
I really felt this thread needed a bump earlier this afternoon, when I bumped it
Dividends are being paid, freaking funny **** going on!
Really don't trust that 2001 TT. 2 good 2 be true!
No lie. Like joining a pack of feral dogs: Expect to get your a** chewed intermittently. I've already gotten my share of teethmarks.
Those who cannot lay into another's choice of wheels or exhaust or 993 vs 991 vs GT3 vs GT4 as if it is THE MOST IMPORTANT THING IN THE WORLD, or receive the same, and not return the next day, ought not be here.
Oh, and
NEVER
question the crystalline perfection of the 991! Ask me how I know.
It's neat that you and the Doc have such a tender relationship, but he can still f**k off. Be sure to use protection (unsure if you still have your 996-powered vagina)...
I'll put together a bromantic playlist for y'all.
In other news: Here's video of Bear Grylls eating a mouse he boiled in Michelle Rodriguez's ****.
Michelle Rodriguez's Most Disgusting Meal - Running Wild with Bear Grylls (Episode Highlight) - YouTube
Most of us have to pay people on Craigslist to pull **** like this off. Bear? He gets the **** delivered in a fancy aluminum bucket.
As far as letting "the broth go to waste" - dude. Let the "broth" go to waste.
Bear is like JI except he wears Bremont...
Yes, he's holding down a 12ft alligator with the other hand which isn't shown.
Now he's whoring himself out and really getting low by wearing Casio for the new season(most likely his new sponsor).
In Bear's defense, he's a little less fussy about which car he'll be driving. I'm also not entirely sure that John could sweet-talk Michelle into copping a squat - his interactions with females need to be lubricated with $300 oil changes.
This is a source reference. Confirm exact model applicability in the original material.
