I turned out that the oil was fairly low at the time so topped it up but it's since made me very aware of the oil pressure gauge hence me seeing the drops during cornering.
Leading evidence: 'oil was fairly low at the time' (1 discussions report identifying this cause; no attributable repair resolution). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is 'oil was fairly low at the time' (1 discussions; 1 report identifying it and 0 suggest it). The most frequently discussed action is 'Check baffles' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

There are some inexpensive options (Technosump = $500)but make sure it is installed with the horizontal baffle in the correct place.

I'm planning on dropping the sump pan and changing out the pickup tube/orings and checking the baffles.

These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I'd really like to track the car but theres no way i'll be doing that until im happy this issue is resolved.
Has anyone noticed this? I have a 99 3.4l and when on right turns, the oil presure drops to around 2 and sometimes even slightly below 2. This only happens when turning right. Anyone else have this issue?
Only thing I can find comparable is a 944. Is the oil pickup tube in a 996 plastic?

C'mon...really? On normal street right hand turns you think the oil is moving from below the oil pickup tube....enough to cause the engine oil pressure to drop significantly? If that is the case you have a big problem. Oil pressure is not going to drop unless the oil pickup tube is completely sucking air...and that is a big problem. Or the oil pickup tube o-ring is blown. Or the pickup tube screen is blocked. There is a baffle in the oil sump designed to prevent this from happening. How is your oil level? It should be full. When was your last oil/filter change? And if you are able to take right hand corners at such a speed the g forces slosh the oil out from under the oil pickup tube you need to invest in a racing type deep sump with better baffles.

Believe your instruments in the absence of contrary physical data.
Ask Pedro about turn 17 at Sebring .That is a surprising death to the ill-prepared M96.
I posted a video that Porsche made simulating the g forces on the engine(and therefore engine oil). It supports your experience -if run the 'Ring.

People used to fit an Acusump but that seems to have been superseded for road cars.
Suggest you research deep+sump+baffle . There are some inexpensive options (Technosump = $500)but make sure it is installed with the horizontal baffle in the correct place.

DBjoe996, has anyone told you, you come off like a real *****? I'm just writing my observations and you come back at me like I'm a moron, I appreciate your time.
As for the oil changes etc, just did one under 500 miles ago. Level is full. I'm planning on dropping the sump pan and changing out the pickup tube/orings and checking the baffles. The car will be parked for some body work soon so I'll do everything then. In the mean time, I'm going to order up the bilt racing 0.5qt expansion pans.
I think he replied to you in a no nonsense manner. You better grow some thick skin quick if you're going to need people's help. Most of us here are ****** 60% of the time.
I have exactly the same issue. I first noticed it after a fairly hard drive i pulled up to a junction and noticed a reasonably loud ticking from one of the ( i assume) heads.
I turned out that the oil was fairly low at the time so topped it up but it's since made me very aware of the oil pressure gauge hence me seeing the drops during cornering.
I'd really like to track the car but theres no way i'll be doing that until im happy this issue is resolved. I'll drop the sump off in the next few weeks and see what state the baffle is in. I'm expecting to find some of the flap to have broken off so fingers crossed it should be a relatively easy fix.
Another forum suggested it could be a failed scavenger pump but if that was the case i'n expect bigger problems than just a fluctuation in the oil pressure reading.
It has been noted that people who track their car are much better off with a racing type deep sump pan with better baffles to keep the oil from sloshing around on long sweeping turns. You also gain the advantage of having a bit more oil. If your pulling your sump pan why not do the upgrade at the same time? Seems like a minimal investment for peace of mind for tracking the car. Just my two cents....
When you remove the sump pan for the 1st time, if the issue is baffle related, either the rubber baffle will be torn, or a peg that secures the baffle in place has broken off. Either way you need a new baffle assembly due to this baffling problem!
