Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I saw a used pair of Cayman seats but am not sure if they will fit a '02 996tt. Just wonder if someone may know about this? Thanks...

POST 2Original post

Physically yes if they are first gen Caymans but you will have to rewire like crazy for all the electrics.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Will this one be easier to manage? Looks like a two-way which only the back rest runs on power.

POST 4Original post

Certainly looks like it would be easier. Note that in your 996, the side-impact airbag is in the door, so you wouldn't want/need to wire up the seat airbag. In fact, you might be able to sell the airbag cartridge to offset the cost of buying the seats.

since it looks like all the powers seat controls are on the seat, would it not just need power?

That would seem like a logical assumption but being Porsche, just look at the 997 adaptive seat rewire thread and you'll know what I mean. Yes it should.

POST 7 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I have the same thought but perhaps he meant to have memory functioning too which I do not care much, yet the actual mechanism could be more complex. I do like the idea of selling off the cartridge though but will mailing be a problem as I believe there is explosive materials inside?

POST 8Original post

Remember to disconnect the battery before you remove your seats, even just to take a look - otherwise, you'll trigger the airbag warning light that must by dealer or Durametric.

POST 9Original post

I believe you can ship via Fed Ex, but there are hazmat forms to fill out. Local pickup would obviously be preferable...
