Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi, just wondering what I'm dealing with here. As you can see, there is a small circular spot above the door handle. I believe this is from paintless dent removal. However, there is a haze on the left and right sides of that spot. It's pretty much only visible as you get up close and I can't feel anything with my fingernail. It has slowly been getting a bit worse. Car was buffed in March. Any idea what it is? This isn't a showcar so I'm not worried about going to concours

POST 2Original post

its the reflection of another cars rim/tire...nothing to worry about as you can most likely buff it out

Haha thats my challenger And it's been buffed by the dealer but I am scared of doing anything as to not burn through the paint.

If it was, not under my ownership Yea, I had a suspicion of that too!

Probably right....

POST 7Original post

Looks like clear coat failure, especially if it is spreading. You can slow down the process but the only fix is a respray of the panel.

POST 8Original post

I too second the clear coat comment. Could just be that time for a respray on the door unfortunately.

POST 9Original post

I also believe it's from paintless dent repair. They hot glue a suction cup to the surface and it looks like its lifting the clear coat.

POST 10 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks for the replies! 1- Anything that can remove the paintless dent spots? I have like 3 other spots like that on the drivers side of the car. 2- Can I use anything to slow down this clear coat failure process? I assume buffing would have a negative effect. May just need to look into a respray, no big issue. When I got the car, I knew it had some cosmetic issues to address, nothing serious though. Guess the 14 years in the Florida sun took its toll. However, I put my money into making it reliable mechanically first. Guess it's time to budget for paint now!

POST 11Original post

As for slowing it down, a semi permanent nano coating like CQuartz UK will do the job. My 99 has similar spots of failure that I have held at bay for a few years now with CQuartz.

2 coats of Klasse and Collinite won't do the trick? I have both on hand

Gator, just bought some CQ UK for my mom's ride but thinking of holding off until late fall to apply it as I'm concerned with it flashing too fast in this 90 deg temps. I've never worked with the UK version before. Thoughts? BTW, you see the newbie detailer chick on AG? Damn....

POST 14Original post

It should work but you need to reapply every few months depending on your climate and if the car is garaged.

POST 15Original post

Quotes source post: 12507363

Temp isn't the biggest issue with applying CQ. Humidity is a bigger issue. I install it constantly in swampy Florida but make sure I do it in my air conditioned shop. Temps usually hover near 90 even with a crappy window unit ac that I temporarily set-up. But, it seems to keep the humidity lower. On the flip side, don't wait till late fall when temps fall below 60. It will stick but the cure time can take days. It is super easy to apply but the key is really good lighting. You know how to chase swirls so it is the same process. You need to look for the high spots and get them knocked down before it cures. I do a panel at a time...apply, wait 15-20 minutes then come back and buff off. That is the time to focus on finding the high spots. Park it outside in the sun if you can for a few hours to help speed up the cure time. I typically wait 24 hours before I send it out to the real world. One major caution. Do not let it get wet for at least 7 days. It will water spot like crazy. After 12 hours or so, I will treat the whole car with Reload just in case it rains. Reapply the Reload every other wash or so. I can walk you through any issues. I use this stuff all the time. I haven't been on AG for quite some time so I haven't seen her. I will have to log in and check her out. A lot of us have moved our traffic to a Facebook page so we can bash any product we want to. AG wont allow that.

POST 16Original post

Quotes source post: 12507471

Yes I heard about that and found later that CK UK was being bundled with the Reload probably due to that reason. I thought I was going crazy but I also have noticed a lack of good threads and lack of threads on AG recently in general. Also I noticed that AG is pretty selective on which products to sell from manufacturers even then they may have a more value oriented product lineup that never makes it onto the AG store. new detail chick: http://www.autogeekonline.net/forum/...coat-more.html DSC_1638_zpsk55xfgxi.jpg Sorry for OT but this is RL afterall.

POST 17Original post

Jeebus! That is not what you typically see when one visions a female Detailer. I think that I am smitten. Usually it's a cross between Rosie O'Donnel and Chas Bono.

POST 18Original post

you can call it, paint job dent removal. looks to me like the hit or pressure from the inside of the door, with the circular object cracked the paint and clear. And its not going to be fixable without a paint job. like they tell you, sometimes it workes, sometimes it doesnt

POST 19 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 12508121

Yea, I will have it addressed at some point in the future. Definitely will be keeping the car for a while so I don't want a heart attack when I find out how much a complete paint job is I will just vinyl wrap the car....jk!!!
