I replaced both cylinders (although not at the same time) with rebuilt ones; one from Vertex and the other from an eBay seller.

I may have to replace the hydraulic cylinders on my '01. I've seen that the OEM part is very high while there are several locations around the country that offer to rebuild them for significantly less, with a 3 yr. warranty at 20% the cost. There have been several threads on RL about the rebuilders, but no long term use feedback. Has anyone used the refurbished? If so, what has been your experience with them. Thanks in advance for your input.

10-4 on replacing both. Apparently, the pressure difference created by the new one is so great, the other fails because of it. I'll be having mine done soon. I contacted one of the companies and they say there's should last 3x longer than Porsche (she quoted me 40 - 50 yrs). I don't think I'll be around to validate that, but at 25% the price, it's worth the risk.

FYI I work in a heavy equipment shop and we rebuild cylinders daily... there's absolutely no reason to buy a new one unless the rod is rusted out or bent... or the cylinder is bent (none of those scenarios is likely). It's like replacing a whole door on a house because the door **** is broken... there's just no reason for all that.

I had rebuilt cylinders installed a few months ago and have not had a problem. I agree with the others on this thread; go with the rebuilt ones and save yourself some $$$.
