Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

8 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

On my kitchen counter I've got the owners manual for every car I have and I was staring at the blue 996 on turbo twists on the cover of my owners manual and noticed it doesn't have fried eggs. My car was built in 6/98 so I looked at the print date and it reads "Printed 6/99" A year after manufacturing date. I assume my manual has been replaced. When I look on ebay, I see a manual for a 99 but the front only says 911 Carrera, not 911 Carrera and Carrera 4 like mine. The picture is also of the rear. Is this the proper manual for my early 99 ? Thanks

POST 2Original post

Can't guarantee mine isn't a replacement, but the manual has the same 'printed' date and yolk-free headlights as you are describing. Also in the packet is a dealer directory dated December '99. My build was 2/98.

POST 3Original post

2/98 build date and Im pretty sure my owners manual is original The inside cover has fried egg headlights 🤷‍♂️ Edit: Didnt notice until after I posted that my owners manual has only 911 Carrera on the front

POST 4Original post

This the original manual from my 2/99 car. It has a 9/98 print date.

POST 5Original post

^^^No fried eggs... BTW - that's the C4 that they show...the C2 had the yolk on the front lights...

Wow ! I wonder if there are any printed earlier. I just looked at mine, has the same image but shows clear tails and no fried egg head lights

POST 7 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Haha true for some of us I never knew the 1999 996s were sold so early in the USA. My 99 was sold in April 1998 at Brumos in Jacksonville and the maintenance book was printed in 4/97
