Read evidence and context

Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

4 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Good Christmas morning. I'm a new owner, 2001 with 62,000 miles. I'm a little obsessed with cosmetics. Has anyone vinyl wrapped ir painted their center console?

POST 2Original post

Yes, this is a fairly common mod. Paint body color, leather wrap etc. havent heard of many wraps, but I cant see why not. Sounds like a fine idea. Merry Christmas 🎄

Absolutely! Had to do both of my 996 center consoles because the factory rubberized soft-touch paint doesn't hold up and scratches off. Most people just strip the old paint off, lightly sand, and repaint. Some will have the consoles covered in factory-matched leather or carbon fiber. Pretty common modification. If you go with factory paint, I recommend ColorBond. Their paints are the closest to the factory that I've seen. Just make sure you completely remove the old rubberized paint before repainting.

Not the cheapest option but you won't be disappointed. https://bumperplugs.com/consoles/996...center-console
