This is not a probability of success.

Canada is just outside my front door, so there is no problem using a Canadian repair facility.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

~The panel lights are failing and only completely visible in some temperature ranges.
~What is the "EFR" variation and how can you tell if the "EFR" unit is installed in 996?
~Is there a way to repair the led number panel? I have partial numbers, however, temperature settings work normally with both heater and air conditioning requirements.
There are some low cost solutions for the hvac system head unit, as this is a common problem.. You can send out your unit to a repair shop or but a new one.. It's plug and play.. A friend had the same issue in his Boxster and told me was was cheap and cheerful to fix.. I will ask him where he had his repaired.
Hi Rob,
I appreciate the HVAC repair information as I am also cheap. To date I have not located a repair shop for the HVAC light repair in the US. My repair shops tell me to replace the unit $$$. Canada is just outside my front door, so there is no problem using a Canadian repair facility.
Hello Ahsai, I will contact Module Master tomorrow. The MM web page is excellent and I was able to download all instructions. A five year warranty sounds good for the rebuild cost. Thank you, Daniel

Ok, if you are doing the lcd repair kit, I think there are two types, one has identical icons the other is generic Audi icons which look similar but not identical.
I think Cuda had a thread on this.
Ok, I think you want the kit from
www.914rubber.com
then.
Check out this thread especially the last post.

Looks like the MM kit is the audi generic one.
^^^THIS!
Definitely go with the kit from 914 Rubber. It's the only one that looks stock:

Also, there is a DIY here:

The module master kit (note that the icons are not the same as the Porsche OEM:
I went wth Module Master. NO problems, great instructions and a fun project. Quality is there too and identical to original. BTW I am the guy Rob996 referred to
I don't think this is true. The module master display is NOT identical to the original. It has a different font, says "man" instead of "manuell", and has different symbols. For example, the center vent symbol is an oval on the OEM, but a square on the module master replacement display.
Perhaps I am detail oriented
, but I did not like the way the module master display looked.
Are there any other solutions to this HVAC controller? Mine displays correctly, but seems to be completely schitzo. It will blow 100% heat with the setting on anything other than the lowest temp "min" setting. Driving this car in the cold requires having the windows open to avoid sweat-soaking my clothes. I detest the automated nature of it. I wish I had a simple analog controller.
This is a source reference. Confirm exact model applicability in the original material.
