Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

0 original-poster resolution reports. Counts can overlap; they are not unique people or a success rate.
0 discussions have direct query context; 0 report a fix in that context. Other evidence may inherit the discussion’s subject.
Leading evidence: 'Check other vids...took off the dyno' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Check other vids...took off the dyno' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.
Source reports, not a diagnosis or a success probability. Counts refer to discussions and can overlap.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I never realized just how bad the 996 hate was until I read some of the threads on the pelican boards. Man some of those guys seem outright offended that the 996 was built saying it isn't a "real" 911 and Porsche should have called it something else.
I wonder if they feel the same way about the 997. Since, you know, it is so drastically different from the 996 that it "deserves" to be called a 911.
Coming from a 928 all I can say is ignore the haters and enjoy your cars. On another note, did you notice the 0 to 62 times? I'm not so sure the car is 50 to 70K better than mine.
Exactly... went on a Blue Ridge Parkway run with our PCA region a few weekends back and the majority of the cars were 996s. We win.
calrcm - Orient Red?
If you think 996's are out of favour, try driving a Boxster....
When I arrived at the local OPC open day last year with my "old" 2001 Boxster S and parked among the latest GT3's, Turbos etc, I felt as I'd just been diagnosed with Bubonic Plague!! Suddenly I was standing alone while everyone else congregated far away from me, casting sideways glances...
Ah well, I suppose I am rather ugly too.
did you see that RSR clone....Its a local car and I have seen that baby...serious car, throws flames out the back !!
my shop got a nod in the article but was way more responsible for the motor work than was let on to. Still got a tiny nod.
btw it throws flames because that is what the owner wanted it to do.....

From the rear 3/4 view the 996 C2 isn't much different from the 997. Maybe that's why they didn't include both.
The picture aside, the editors clearly have reservations about the 991. With things like electric steering, push-button emergency brake, and "Panamera-style" interior, it seems to be moving away from a sports car and into GT territory. Granted, it's been doing that for a while.
Still, it's lighter and faster than before, so all will be forgiven in the long run.
To what, your subscription to Porsche?
The picture in question was taken at a Porsche event where they lined up a 993, 997 and new 991 to highlight lineage. Excellence simply ran the image in the 991 article and noted the missing 996. The editor of Excellence often mentions that his favorite Porsche to drive in the 996 GT3.
No, the Porsche kool-aid is to strong for that... I meant, in jest, my Excellence subscription. Much love for the crew at Excellence so wouldn''t cancel it no way no how.
Geez, all this angst seems a bit silly. I have taken my 996 to many track days and other events and never, not once, have felt snubbed by anyone in the P-car community. Anyone who would do so would not be worth hanging with anyway.
Same experience with my 944 and 968. Just people who love cars and driving. Not concerned about jewelry or status. I know very good drivers who sling 924's around the track pretty quickly.
Much ado over headlights. But, hey, they made the car affordable to a trombone player (insert joke here).
Agree. I have never experienced anything but a friendly welcome from the PCA/Porsche crowd - and before the 996 I had front engined water cooled Porsches, the ultimate heresy.
Add another one to the list. I've had the two models most likely to generate the most disrespect (a 944 S2 and a 996) and have never heard anything but positive comments from any fellow Porsche owner.
This is between 3 different PCA regions that I've been a part of - Pocono, Northern New Jersey, and Carolina.
