I don't think that 996 seats were offered from the factory with alcantara cushions, so it looks like somebody already replaced the inner portion of the seat covers.

If I had that interior I would surely have gone with a clean OEM look.

Suggestion
I struggled with the idea of using Alcantara in the middle with the bolsters and the rest of the seat leather.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hey All,
So after watching a bunch of Magnus Walker videos and seeing what he did to that Sharkwerks GT2 seat, I was wondering if anyone on here had any experience doing something like that.
I'd like to re-upholster my 996 suede inter portion of my bucket seats.
Has anyone done this before? I couldn't find a DIY but I do know that a lot of guys (and gals) take theirs to custom shops that specialize in this.
Heres a picture of what mine look like (sorry for the poor quality)
If anyone has any experience with this please do share!
Thanks!
I recently had my two front seats reupholstered in Leather. I struggled with the idea of using Alcantara in the middle with the bolsters and the rest of the seat leather. Since there was no big difference between leather and alcantara in price, I went with the OEM look and struck to leather.
I don't think that 996 seats were offered from the factory with alcantara cushions, so it looks like somebody already replaced the inner portion of the seat covers. I wouldn't imagine that it would be that difficult for a good upholstery shop to modify them however you want...
Dennis, I had no idea the middle cushions weren't offered in different material. Thanks for the tip!
The brown leather looks super clean! If I had that interior I would surely have gone with a clean OEM look. Great work.
I am looking to go for a bit of a different design for the cushions with a contrasting center console and dash trim. Here's the part where the bashing comes, in...I am looking at plaid. The GT2 outlaw that Magnus did looks spectacular. But in order to do that I would need to figure out how to get my hands on some custom seat belts.
I guess that it depends on what you want to do with the seatbelts. Your grey interior appears in good condition, and having the inner part of the seats done in a plaid reminds me of my first 928. It has this really op-art deco design that I really loved but was impossible to duplicate without spending goo goobs of money. The OEM seatbelts looked beautiful. My feeling is that if you are comfortable with the results of the seats, the seatbelts would fit right in
Morganabowen, can you tell me if you ordered the covers and had them out on or did your shop make the covers. If so, which one. I have not been able to find off-the-shelf covers for Savannah Beige. I assume that's what that is
The shop ordered the leather uncut and I saw it when it arrived. The centers were perforated and the bolsters and rest were plain leather. The shop had a book with the different colors from Porsche, and Savannah was included in the catalog. He cut, sewed and installed them in about two days. I think he did a really good job and I am very happy with the results
