Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I removed the bumpers and while I was at it also installed some radiator grill for protection.
Leading evidence: 'Install some radiator grill' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). And while you have the bumper off you can check the routing of the emergency frunk release.

Once you get the bumper out of the way, it encourages you to go full OCD and do things like repairing any flattened out fins, use a coil cleaner, pressure washer, etc.

I am needing to remove my front bumper anyway to change the hardware for the chin spoiler.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I think you need to remove them. I used to do what you described and thought it was good until my car started running hot. I decided to remove everything and was shocked by how much dirt and debris was back in there. Its a pretty easy job.
Yes, remove bumper so you can separate the AC condensors from the radiators. All the stuff that gets stuck in there is usually between the condensor and radiator. But always a good idea to routinely vacuum the bumper cover intakes.
You'll be surprised after removing the bumper how much debris resides between the condenser and radiator. I removed the bumpers and while I was at it also installed some radiator grill for protection.
Here are some more photos of debris. It may not look like an issue from the front condenser, but behind it, the debris crawls up between the condenser and the radiators reducing cooling capacity. We have grilles that reduce this debris build up and subsequently the annual clean out recommendation.

@Tonger
we are loooing for mechanically inclined individuals and photo or video savy people to test out our 996 prototypes. Contact us if anyone is interested
Absolutely.
i have an air compressor/pressure washer/shop vac with all sorts of extensions/accessories and I spent over an hour blowing/sucking/spraying out debris (noted on my PPI) when I first picked up the car. I thought I had done a good job but after reading numerous posts where long-time 996 owners kept echoing that you need to take the front bumper off in order to do the job right, I decided to do The needful. I had a ton of debris between the condensers and radiators that no amount of compressed air would have dislodged without taking off the bumper.

Btw... my average temps dropped about 5 degrees after the bumper-off cleaning.
Do you have prototype fitment for a 996 GT3 including the center radiator? If so, I'd be interested depending on how the prototype looks. I am needing to remove my front bumper anyway to change the hardware for the chin spoiler.
Getting ready to take this on...I remember seeing a tutorial for removing the 996 bumper, but I can't remember if it was here or on some other site.
Anybody got a link to the removal procedure? Thanks!
I used this write-up when installing my center radiator. I'll second everyone else's comments. There is no good way to clean them without pulling the bumper cover. Not that bad of a job. Just keep all the screws and fasteners sorted or labeled.
