Read evidence and context
Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Leading evidence: 'Use money' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Use money' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.
Source reports, not a diagnosis or a success probability. Counts refer to discussions and can overlap.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I have the possibility to score a set of brakes from a wrecked 997 4S from 2006 for little money.
Now brakes and all the differences between models/years is something I do not have any experience with.
Anybody an idea what kind of brake calipers these cars have compared to the more common brake upgrades people opt for with a 996.
Would it be an easy fit for my 996.2 C2 (2002)?
Any substabntial improvement on braking? Or only looks?
I was planning to refurbish and repaint my existing brake calipers in acid blue.
But maybe I could refurbish and paint the 997 4S ones and put them on my car as a small upgrade even only it was for looks.
Any input or experiences welcome.
I'm not an expert and hope not to get flamed here, but according to Rockauto the C4S/Turbo Calipers are the same from 2001-2012. So you should be able to update to the C4S/Turbo brakes. You will need the rotors at a minimum. The brake lines appear to be the same. I am uncertain about the spindle as the C4S and Turbo are AWD but your car is not.
My personal opinion is get them to resell for a profit. Then use the money for car maintenance or pay down your mortgage. You'll get more bang for your buck with either of those two options than you will installing them on your car.
Sorry no mortgage anymore, and no reseller aspirations.
There is a donor car so other items necessary to fit are available.
The calipers are going to come of either way sometime. So if it is not that much an extra. Why not. Allthough if the difference is nihil (even for looks) then I will not go for it off course.
I have at the moment no possibility to compare, size wise. And on Internet I cannot find a reliable photo which shows it.
Go here and research the 996 and 997 4S brake part numbers. Just click on the model and then search hard parts. The brake system components are shown under the brake heading, with part numbers available if you drill down on the pictures.
