Suggestion

Turn the pump on by jumping the relay, let the pump run for about 30 seconds and let sit, repeat a couple times, then do the 3 start sequence above,, or if your industrious, if your car has a pressure test port you can bleed it with a fuel pressure test gauge..

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I installed a new fuel filter last weekend and I'm almost ready to start my car up for the first time this season. Any special start up routines recommended due to the filter being empty or the system holding air during startup? -Thanks

POST 2Original post

There is not a lot you can do...there will be some air in the fuel line. The electric fuel pump should be okay with that. Crank until it starts. Immediately shut off. Then do again and as soon as it fires, shut it off. What you are wanting to do is first build up some fuel and oil pressure to make sure everything is lubricated. Then do a third time....crank until it fires and shut off. On the fourth time...crank and fire and let it run.

I remember someone once saying that we could pull the ignition relay so that the motor will crank but not fire...?

You can or follow Joe's advice above.
