Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

3 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

https://global.yamaha-motor.com/busi...casting/ex013/ Interesting how they have solved some of their issues.. Yamaha pretty much rules in the AL block manufacture, they built the Corvette AL blocks among others.. THe transparent view in this link is also kinda cool. https://yamahaoutboards.com/en-us/ho...v8-5-3l-350-hp Cheers

POST 2Original post

People also forget that Yamaha in operation with FoMoCo built the SHO 3.0-3.2 v6 and 3.4 v8 engines in late 80's early 90's. Rev-limited and detuned to 7200rpm and 225hp to keep the A/c compressor/alternator/PS pump from flying apart, it was capable of 8500rpm and 300hp all day long.. Used in the Taurus SHO, it was actually designed for the GN34 mid-engine car that was never produced. A friend of mine who was an engineer for FoMoCo has a prototype Ranger SHO 3.0 that was unleashed to 8500rpm-300hp. That is a very fun little truck to drive !! Great solid dependable little engine.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I was noticing the way they build the cylinder assembly tht is obviously made to allow the cylinders to be removed from the block.. where could that be handy?? LOL Yea I had a friend with a SHO that we put a underdrive pulley set on and turned off the rev limiter.. Car was amazing for its day. Always thought the body style did no justice to that engine.. should went in an Escort RS chassis or maybe a retread of the Capri..
