Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Wish I had more details on how it was repaired but all that I was told was that it was common and adhesive was the fix.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

4 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

  • Rennlist: 1 discussions

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

Generation: 20261027T000231Z · outcome-qualification-6. Deterministic extraction; no AI model inference. How we use sources

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

This one is coming from the back of the sunroof cavity when driving. It's always hard to pinpoint but I'm guessing I'm not the only 996 owner experiencing this. Any help?

POST 2Original post

Same here, get it sporadically, just behind my head on the left side when driving. I can get it to disappear by taking a firm grip on a bar just under the cloth. The bar is flat and goes right across the roof. At the left side there is a sort of plastic (fells like it) bit that fits on the flat bar. If I try to force that plastic bit to the left, the sound goes away. Soon returns when hitting a bump or some rough road.

POST 3Original post

I had this issue on my 04 C2 shortly after I purchased it in 2007. Dealer repaired under CPO and it is still good today. Wish I had more details on how it was repaired but all that I was told was that it was common and adhesive was the fix.

POST 4Original post

If you do a search there is a detailed thread on the fix. The headliner needs to come off, well at least part of it. The ends of roof bar are attched with silicone and over time and from the heat they get dry and the roof bar (dont know proper term) comes loose from the roof. You just need to put new silicone in that area.

This is a source reference. Confirm exact model applicability in the original material.
