Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Just picked up a 2001 cabriolet with the Porsche nav system and I cant believe this thing doesn't have a cd player. It has the nav drive below it but no 6 disc changer in the frunk. If you hit the cd button on the head unit it says no cd player. I would like to keep the factory head unit to keep everything original. Now can I just buy a 6 disc cd changer off of someone and install it simple as that or is there a lot more involved? Porsche audio gurus help a rookie out.

POST 2Original post

Are there any signs in the frunk that there was ever one in there? There was one in mine (plus the one on the dash) and I assumed that was as it came from Stuttgart. Now you got me thinking.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

No signs there was ever a 6 disc in the front. Anyone know if I can just install one connect the wires to the head unit and be good to go?

POST 4Original post

It may be easier to replace your current NAV system with a Kenwood DNN991HD. It has the CD player behind the display. The display folds down when you want to use the CD player and you get all the benefits of modern technology. I have one in my '99 Cab and love it.

Ya an aftermarket system is a possibility but I would really like to keep everything original in the interior. Someone has to have added a 6 disc changer in one of these cars that didn't come with one.
