My shop is installing a resistor in the seat plug as well so I don't need to plug in the 3 point while I'm using the harness.

Five point harness will be used so no issues there.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Greetings folks,
I have a question that maybe some of you track guys can answer. I am picking up a Porsche Tecquipment roll bar soon. I plan on installing, at minimum, a proper drivers racing seat. Five point harness will be used so no issues there.
The question is, I would like to retain the 3 point belts for everday driving on the street. But, the seat belt receptacle is attached to the seat itself. How would this work with a race seat?
Hope that makes sense.
I am having a Sparco pro 2000 (a side or bottom mount style seat) installed as we speak. The sparco Porsche base plate has a bracket on the side the receptacle attaches to. My shop is installing a resistor in the seat plug as well so I don't need to plug in the 3 point while I'm using the harness. If you get a side mount style seat you may need to buy a special bracket but most of the seats have something available that allows you to keep the stock 3 pt.
Sometime in the future. I wanted to get one now before they are NLA and end up costing a fortune. My car will be converted to a track car, it's just a matter of when that will happen.
I had the exact same thoughts and picked one up before they are waaaay more expensive. I will let you go first and install yours. I will then send my car to you to install mine. I hear this is a seriously PITA install.
I got a smoking deal from a Rennlister on a DAS sport bar for my Cab. The Porsche sport bars for the 996 cab are few and far between these days and I got tired of looking for a used one. Since good harness bars are pricey one might as well go for a roll bar or cage and get the extra protection for not much more $.
This was my reasoning as well. I know the factory Tequipment roll bar doesn't offer the best protection but it can serve double duty by acting as a harness bar.
As for the install, yes I read all the horror stories but Gator, don't hold your breath. I have small kids that still wanna ride in the back for the time being. Just be glad we don't have gt3's as they require one more step for install.

I have racing harnesses too, I just don't have them listed on the ole website.

just finished the install, very straightforward using the top of the pss10s(rear struts) and rear seat belt mounts, couldnt have been easier, takes about 10 minutes for removal if i need access to rear, but im stripping the car down for DE events(rear seats, subwoofer, etc) and with my new GT3 Recaro buckets and Schroth harnesses there is no need for rear access,i got lucky and found thru a rennlister the harness witch so happened to be powder coated dark blue,so its a nice match with the exterior midnight blue and graphite grey interior, the seats by the way are alot more comfortable then i thought, great back and lumbar support . Of course i still have my heated sports seats and they can be swapped out without to much trouble, but its not my daily driver, and im pretty hooked on DE events (Metro PCA area) that i may just leave everything as is. thought you guys would like to check it out,a nice alternative to a rollbar
