Not sure what speed I have to be at to tell the difference but I just ran the car at 110 for a few seconds and then came back home to make sure everything was still secuure, etc.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

So I finally got the install done. Here is a link to the thread covering this including pics and part numbers. http://www.renntech.org/forums/index...topic=4095&hl= Cheers, Dell

POST 2Original post

Schweet!!! I'll be putting mine on this weekend. Post some nice 3/4 front angle shots of the car. What's your overall impression?? Chad

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Overall, I like it 1000x better than the mk1 lip that went straight down. This one has more character and aesthetically looks better (IMHO). As for speed impression. Not sure what speed I have to be at to tell the difference but I just ran the car at 110 for a few seconds and then came back home to make sure everything was still secuure, etc. Worked like a champ, and the front end feels a bit less floaty. With this new lip and my RoWM030 installed a few weeks ago, the car feel incredible. The car is lowered about 17mm in rear and 11 in front. Thanks to the new suspension and lip I have about 2mm of clearnence (OUCH!) left entering my driveway I'll get some pics this afternoon of 3/4 shots.

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

3/4 pics posted now in the Renntech link above.

POST 5Original post

FWIW, my fitment came out way different. My lip came from The Racers Group, and was called a Supercip lip. The major difference is that my lip did not need to be trimmed inside the wheel wells, and also extended the full width of the bumper. I think that Dell's set-up looks great, but mine is a bit different. Here is a pic... hopefully you can see the difference...

POST 7Original post

question: how deep is the lip i.e. is it 2" from the bottom of the front bumper? also what height did you guys (or gals) start with from the ground to the front bumper? the reason i am asking is that i am at 5 1/2" from the ground to the front bumper (no lip) on my Aerokit 1 996. this might be too little clearance for the street.

POST 8Original post

I am having LESS scraping issues with the supercup lip than with the original mk1 lip... still have to be careful...

POST 9Original post

I think TRG increased the price of that puppy. When I went searching theirs was more than the OE one. Ours was about $200 from Sunset. Chad

POST 11Original post

i wonder if the lip itradem bought would fit under my cargraphic add-on

POST 12 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

yup the old mk1 lip went straight down and scraped more but it is about the same ground clearance.

POST 13Original post

ITRADEM, Did you also have to drill holes or did the holes line up with the bumper? Thanks

POST 14Original post

Yes, I had to drill holes in a very similar fashion as Dell. In fact, you could follow the directions he posted above. Once you get things lined up using the old lip as a template, things a pretty easy.

POST 15 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

ITRADEM, did you pick up one of these? This is what is posted in the TRG site. 996 GT3R Splitter $ 499.00 996 GT3 Aero Splitter $ 399.00 $ 599.00 996 Folded Lip Splitter $ 599.00 $ 750.00 First price is for fiberglass, second is for CF.

POST 16Original post

Why would anybody buy one of these in fiberglass or carbon fiber? It seems to me that it is in an extremely vulnerable position, and your first off track excursion or tap on a parking stop would ruin the piece irreparably. That is a lot of money to just throw away. What am I missing?

POST 17 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

The supercup lip Seriously, all jokes aside. The stability gain adding the lip is worth it especially if you track your car. More downforce. But in CF, I find that outrageous unless I have a sponsor shelling out the dough for that. They are held on with plastic break away rivets so it really just pops off if put in that situation. Some guys have riveted theirs to the bumper but if that sucker shears of so does part of the bumper. OUCH!

POST 18 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

BTW, your new wheels look awesome Todd!

POST 19Original post

Thanks Dell, I completely get the idea of the lip, and I know it adds downforce, but my question is about the materials. Isn't the oem one made from very tough plastic? Plastic makes sense due to its durability and inexpensiveness. However, fiberglass and CF seem to weak to me. TD

POST 20 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Totally agree. The OEM mk2 lip I bought is actually a very flexible plastic unlike the mk1 lip that is a bit firmer. Can't comment on the feel of the TRG one but especially the CF I don't understand.

Any more info on this lip? It looks great!!! Where can I purchase one?

POST 22Original post

Wow itradem I love that lower spoiler, mines similar to yours besides the bottom lip. Was that piece separate? Where did you get it from? Here's a front pic of mine wondering if that bottom lip would work on mine? e?

POST 23Original post

Looks the same as mine, from Better Bodies Motorsports.... would love to make that lip also work., thought about fabricating my own out of UHMW.

POST 24Original post

Yep, that's were mine came from Johnca58, recon that lip would work on ours?

Only one way to find out.

POST 26Original post

I love mine, it matches the aero skirts perfectly. But....would look a lot better with that lip. Any clue as to where its sold?
