Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Leading evidence: 'Run proxes' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Check alarm' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

Suggestion
IMS Guardian with magnetic drain plug (I check the alarm before each run, which is probably overkill/mysticism)

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

A recent thread got me to thinking about this. I thought it would be good to see what 996 owners have actually done.
For those of you who track or autocross your 996, have you done anything to address oil starvation issues?
If so, please post the mods you've done to alleviate oil starvation and if you have any suspension mods that would increase G-loading.
To be clear, this isn't a debate on the need to do anything, just trying to see what members have done. (Although if you start debating it, I still won't lock it.)
1.FVD Brombacher Deep Sump Kit.
2. ROW M030 suspension.
3.A close and personal relationship with Jesus Christ just in case. Pray for my engine every time I hit the track.
I track mostly in the southeast so no extreme elevation or banking issues. However, car has been to Daytona with zero issues. No pressure drop, smoke or anything.
I have only AX'd my 996 (no "real" track time). Running 225/35ZR-19 and 265/30ZR-19 Hankook Ventus V12 evo2 XL on lowered, taut suspension. 20% underdrive pulley. LN spin-on adapter. No other performance or oiling mods. I do occasionally sacrifice a goat for good measure. No issues.
Nothing done for oil starvation.
I have Ohlins/Tarret & Elephant racing top mounts/RE-71R tires
2 AX & 2 DE's so far with one of each for every month planned until Nov.
Been to the track three times. Never had an issue. I do change the oil before going but don't immediately after. The owners manual does not warn against oil starvation from track use. It only warns against driving on slicks.
Shockingly, the people who are in the business of selling dry sumps and various replacement oil systems are convinced that the car will suffer catastrophic failure if tracked without their product. Who could possibly have seen that coming?
I regularly AX my 2001 C4.
Oil and suspension related mods/info:
1. X51 Oil Pan upgrade before I even considered AX'ing this car; the rubber baffles horrified me
2. Dunlop Direzza ZII Star Spec on 18's. 245 front and 275 rear.
3. M030 Sport Suspension
4. Max negative camber with factory suspension bits and a little bit of toe-in at the rear
Other mods/info:
1. IMS Guardian with magnetic drain plug (I check the alarm before each run, which is probably overkill/mysticism)
2. 2nd gear detent upgrade
3. Leave the car idling after run group with engine compartment open for cool-down
4. Change oil after every 2 events
We did have a PCA member from San Diego Region starve his 986 Boxster at Willow Springs within the last year. He didn't do anything to upgrade the oiling system, as far as I know.
About ten autocrosses and two track weekends in this car (in the year-and-a-half I've owned it, anyway). Many autocrosses and track events in other Porsches prior to running the 996.
I have not made any oil-starvation-prevention modifications. I just drive slow:

Done several track days (no banking) and TONS of autocross. Stock x51 has worked great so far. I do make sure I fast idle before shut down to let the AOS do its thing after running hard. That's on street tire's and R-comps.
Just received the July Panorama yesterday; this is the third time that I recall seeing something written in the magazine over the years stating the M96 isn't up to par for track use.
What do you think happens when you use slicks? It throws the oil to one side of the motor in heavy g's. IF you use R-comp tires and track your car (I don't think AX is part of tracking) I highly suggest you do something to compensate for the extra sticky tires. Street tires you can track all day long with out worry. So what is a better mod....$600 for a deep sump or big bucks for a donor motor?
I believe the best solution is to add the X51 scavenge pump and line for banks 4-6, but not cheap. Wasn't made for the US market.
Here's some good info on it.

I have the X51 kit with the X51 oil pan and baffles. I run Proxes and change oil every 3-4 tack days.
I'm considering running CMS with it's huge banking in October and admit I'm a bit nervous, even with the X51.... Thoughts?
