I've obviously removed the bumpstops on the regulator to make it work with a 996 and adjusted the screws on the bottom so the window fits tight, but not too tight.

This one actually looks identical to the factory unit, so I think I'm using a factory unit now.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

2 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

To the best of my knowledge I'm onto my 3rd window regulator. The first one (original I think) died about 2 years ago and I replaced it with a 3rd party unit. The 3rd party unit died about 2 months ago and they (fortunately) replaced it, warranty, with another unit. This one actually looks identical to the factory unit, so I think I'm using a factory unit now. Now, a few months in, I'm paranoid about the adjustment of the regulator. The window clicks when going up the last 5mm of travel, which has me worried. I've obviously removed the bumpstops on the regulator to make it work with a 996 and adjusted the screws on the bottom so the window fits tight, but not too tight. I think I've 'trained' the switch where top and bottom are. I also marked the window with sharpie when I removed it to get it approximately in the same place. Is there a step by step 'adjust this screw, then this one, then this one' to get this right? I plan on pulling the door panel off this weekend - I'm worried this click is me killing my 3rd regulator. Thanks!

POST 2Original post

I replaced my regulator about a year ago and the only thing I did was mark the glass with blue tape and remove the bump stop at the bottom. I didn't have to adjust any screws on the regulator.
