Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I would check with fabspeed to confirm but they use the factory cats in some of their systems.

I have a opportunity to buy a used 996 Fabspeed x pipe with cats, including stock mufflers (I will use for Gundo).

You will shorten the life of the engine using K&N filters, I don't care how well you clean and oil them.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi,
New to posting been reading for years. I am finally getting ready to start my winter project on my 02 c4 cab its pretty much stock except for a K&N air filter and waiting on a Schnell Intake elbow to arrive. I am thinking of doing a Gundo Hack and a 200 Cell High Flow X-Pipe just to start. I want to get a little more power and a more aggressive sound for my first set of mods. Any help, thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated Thank you!
Thats a good start. But Im sure you already know from reading about mods on this engine, theres not much to be gained without modification to several systems, including internals. Its just not an engine that has a whole lot of areas of improvement to engine efficiency/power. Areas of improvement for reliability and longevity, however, is another story altogether. Maybe a novel.
I'd have to disagree, a lot, on the comment of no power gains with 200 cell cats. It is a very noticeable improvement aside from the more aggressive sound it gives.
Pete
Thank you for the feedback! I have a opportunity to buy a used 996 Fabspeed x pipe with cats, including stock mufflers (I will use for Gundo). 4 sensors and a set of stock chrome tips for $1200. I am a little hesitant to pull the trigger not knowing if I will have problems with them. Don't know if that's a good deal and is it worth the risk?
I would check with fabspeed to confirm but they use the factory cats in some of their systems. U may want to check. If they are u shouldnt have any o2 issues
Friends don't let friends use K&N filters...
I've been hanging out over on bobistheoilguy.com for over 16 years - this is where fluid/auto engineers hang out to chat. The consensus is that you WILL be introducing particles into your combustion chambers that weren't meant to be there!!! You will shorten the life of the engine using K&N filters, I don't care how well you clean and oil them. They're fine for a track/race car, not for street use.
Be sure the cats modules are made by the German manufacturer HJS that is the same one that Porsche uses and I believe that it is what Fabspeed integrate into their assembly.
You shouldn't get any error messages with that.
Just do the muffler mod first and then if you still think the car is too quiet spend the money of the converters. I'm willing to bet that the muffler mod will be enough for you.
