I verified the spark plug torque and swapped coil packs on cyl 2 and 3 and still got the code. Then put one of my old plugs back in cyl 3 and that solved the issue (at least no code during a 30 minute drive).
Leading evidence: 'Replace ignition coils' (1 discussions report resolution; 0 report an unsuccessful attempt). The crap that we see from there is caused by the customer that specs such a low quality.

Agreed, I was surprised as well that it was the plug, had that pegged as a long shot but had already eliminated the spark plug proper torque, coil pack, and the coil pack electrical connection so gave swapping the plug a shot.

These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Because of this I bought one new style coil pack and installed it into Cylinder 6 (easy to access in case there was an issue using 1 new style along with the 5 old style coil packs).

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I verified torque on spark plug and reset the coil pack and verified it was electrically plugged in for Cylinder 3 - this did not solve the issue.
I replaced the spark plugs on my 2004 C2. While doing so the Cylinder 1 coil pack was noticeably cracked. The car has the old style coil packs and the dealership only has the new style. Because of this I bought one new style coil pack and installed it into Cylinder 6 (easy to access in case there was an issue using 1 new style along with the 5 old style coil packs). Now I am getting a P0303 (Cylinder 3 misfire) code. I verified torque on spark plug and reset the coil pack and verified it was electrically plugged in for Cylinder 3 - this did not solve the issue. Is there any way the single new style coil pack installed in cylinder 6 (passenger side front) could make me throw a misfire code for cylinder 3 (drivers side front)? Although i was careful, is it common for the coil packs to get damaged during removal and install? Thanks!
It could be a bad coil or bad spark plug. Try swapping the coil on #3 to a different cylinder and see if the misfire follows it. If not, then swap the spark plug. If the misfire stays on #3 there something else going on (wire harness to coil not seating all the way? - just guessing here).
The new coil pack won't cause a problem. Check that the wire to the coil is on securely. Pull on it. Sometimes they seem like they're on correctly but they are not fully clicked in. It has happened to me. You need to hear/feel the click.
You can pull the rubber boot back, seat the connector and move the rubber boot back. That really makes sure you have the connector well seated in the coil.
Seems like it was a bad spark plug from the supplier. I verified the spark plug torque and swapped coil packs on cyl 2 and 3 and still got the code. Then put one of my old plugs back in cyl 3 and that solved the issue (at least no code during a 30 minute drive). Ordered a new plug and will get that installed. Thanks all.
Agreed, I was surprised as well that it was the plug, had that pegged as a long shot but had already eliminated the spark plug proper torque, coil pack, and the coil pack electrical connection so gave swapping the plug a shot. I ordered 6 Bosch FGR5KQE0 plugs from Pelican, only the one was an issue.
Now working closely with global engine manufacturers, Bosch produce spark plugs with 26 different electrode layouts. They have expanded their production facilities from their Bamberg plant in
Germany
and now also manufacture in
Brazil
,
China
,
India
and
Russia
, distributing their car parts worldwide.
Maybe one came from an outsource..made in China.
China can and does make high quality products. The crap that we see from there is caused by the customer that specs such a low quality. They just make it to whatever spec the customer wants and since we are all too cheap to pay more money for better quality, we end up buying them. Bad new spark plugs are rare but when you work on enough cars over the years, you will see a couple. I has nothing to do with brand, place of manufacture or anything else. Things like this happen. The elaborate the spark plug is the bigger the chance of something going wrong during manufacturing. I use regular copper core Champions in mine. They will not last as long as the platinum/iridium tipped ones but I don't care since I do all my work anyways.
Imo is correct that China is not the sole issue. Plenty of quality things are made in China. One of the biggest issues in Chinese manufacturing is unfortunately very little control over counterfeiting and counterfeit parts being mixed with genuine parts due to warehouses "batching" storage of items and not keeping shipments separate. There's an entire council dedicated to testing and identifying counterfeit parts now that it's such a huge issue.
