Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

14 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

  • Rennlist: 1 discussions

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I found a burlwood 3 spoke wheel for a cool hundred bucks but the wood has seen better days. Can the wood be redone or easily removed ? Thanks

POST 2Original post

I dont believe so. I had one and reached out to a steering wheel refinished. Said it couldnt be done. I ended up buying a used leather wheel and replaced the whole thing.

POST 3Original post

Where did you find it? I have been hunting Burl wood pieces as well.

POST 5Original post

There are burlwood vinyl options out there. 5 years ago I'd say they probably look like crap but I've seen some pretty amazing vinyls lately. Might be worth a shot if you can get samples from manufacturer to quality check.

POST 7Original post

I have tried a few vinyl ones but they don’t have the light color. I am going to try hydradip next...like whatbthey do to football helmets to make them look like carbon. But i I am still hunting for real pieces, nothing beats the real thing. thanks.

Dont do it...wood look is never a good look.

POST 9 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Don't have any good pics. But I can see the top is cracked. I'm trying to get a better wheel in my car, the four spoke is too thin. I put a GTI wheel in my Golf TDi and it's a night and day difference

POST 10Original post

Are you hoping to match wood trim that is already on your car or are you trying to restore a cheap wheel you bought? I was assuming you were trying to match trim which is why I gave you the answer I did. I should know better than to make assumptions..

My car has no wood. I would just like to see if the wood on this wheel is fixable before I pay a hundred bucks for it

I have wood....every time I enter a chicane in the C4s

Indeed, that is the only wood allowed in the, ahem, cockpit.

POST 14Original post

Lol...that chicane wood is good.. my car car comes with lots of Burl wood. It looks good, as it breaks up the single tone of the interior, but some of it has to be replaced.
