Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

0 original-poster resolution reports. Counts can overlap; they are not unique people or a success rate.
0 discussions have direct query context; 0 report a fix in that context. Other evidence may inherit the discussion’s subject.
Leading evidence: 'Replace fluids filter etc etc' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Replace fluids filter etc etc' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.
Source reports, not a diagnosis or a success probability. Counts refer to discussions and can overlap.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I have posted in another thread about a shifting issue on my 02 996 cab c2. I get a very harsh engagement 2-3 above 4500 rpm. All other gears are fine sb so is 2-3 if Im not driving it like I stole it. Changed fluids filter etc etc. my question here is more about manufacturer DME/TCU software updates? I found a local Indy that has a Porsche PIWIS diagnostic. He scanned the car and found no codes but said that none of the Porsche software updates have been done. He said uploaded the scan or whatever to Porsche and is waiting for them to send an update? So is this true? Has there been several DME/ECU manufacturer updates? Could this fix the harsh 2-3 shift problem? He also thinks the new TCU that was installed by previous owner was never coded to car? He also stated that Porsche will charge for the software upload, this on top of his diagnostic fee. Looking to make sure this is all true or might work before I drop some cash.
There is an hourly charge, $125/hr but prices indeed could have gone up since I received my intel, for an official PIWIS to communicate with Porsche headquarters. I'm not sure if dealers have to pay this as they likely have more lucrative (see: expensive,) licensing deals. I know for an independent shop that can justify having "the real deal" PIWIS there are annual license fees as well as the hourly diagnostic fees. This is probably what your mechanic is communicating to you when he say "fee to upload the data."
This is what sets apart the Chinese clone PIWIS modules that are like $700 vs. a real PIWIS. If you try to connect your clone to Porsche they will brick it so fast your head will spin!
Thanks for confirming that.I was quoted $275. The Indy will let me know about any additional charges from Porsche once they confirm if there will be. Im hoping this software update will fix. It would suck to drop a chunk of cash only to find out I need a conductor plate, speed sensor etc or rebuild.
