Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I took a lot of time when I thought I had issues and what I find is the mechanism (drive, slide areas, contact bocks, rubber, etc.) work best and seals best when clean and lubricated on all identified system parts.
Leading evidence: 'Lubricate on all identified system parts' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Clean /lube it' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

Have you ever found that you had to remove the deflector in order to clean/lube it?

Suggestion
Drive blocks, rub blocks, rails all need correct lubrication attention, clean then lubricated.

But I find this works, if used sparingly, and after a full clean up.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

When driving with the top retracted at speeds over 70 mph there is huge wind noise from the area of the pop-up wind deflector. When I push up lightly on the deflector and make it seal to the rubber weatherstrip the noise stops. Any ideas? Will the dealer have a fix?
I don't know if this helps but if i open my sunroof and not the windows there is a horrible buffetting sound. I open the side windows and it goes away. Maybe that will help too. I think I am misunderstanding your question though. BTW, who else is from Chicago on this forum, we should all get together in the spring.

Welcome Thegman!!!!
I do not know of a fix, not sure if mine has the noise over 70 mph. I'll try it out in the next few days and get back to you.
Ken
I am experiencing the same thing. Here's a link to a video I took illustrating how much movement there is.

Any ideas for a solution?

The deflector spring action some times has to be :"reformed" to meet the shape it was intended to help , the front edge sealing. Being collapsed most of time means its losing tension .
All exposed rubber material needs to also be lubed and cared for. Drive blocks, rub blocks, rails all need correct lubrication attention, clean then lubricated.
The Targa roof system does take a lot more upkeep, hence the 9K cost increase over coupe. But it is worth the effort.
When mine has its yearly maintenance it seals good, works effortlessly, and has no rattles or squeaks.
Mike, what do you do for your yearly maintenance? I am armed with Aerospace 303, McLube Sailkote, One Drop, Krytox GPL 205, and Gummi Plfege based on suggestions from other threads.
But I find this works, if used sparingly, and after a full clean up. Apply with multiple sticks, swabs, small brush, etc.
3 or 8 oz packaging Found a most Autoparts stores. Not a dust magnet type grease/lube

Just lubing rails and blocks along with guide pins and slots will work wonders for operating issues/smoothness, Coil wire drive for movement it works also.
What's your typical yearly maintenance process? Just clean and lube everything?
What do you mean by "

Are you saying the springs them selves need to be reshaped/adjusted? Or, is it just lubricating them?
You need to either clean it up and lube, or if doesn't seat up tight to front edge , springs might needed to be reshaped to get firm bounce on pop up when roof clears last bit before it fully opens.
Deflector when roof fully open should be adjusted as necessary and cleaned up from dust and grime before lube is applied.
Sorry for a thousand questions, but this helps a lot.
When you remove the deflector, are you able to remove it without having to unbolt the mounts? It looks like the deflector could be slid off the rods, but want to confirm.
If I remember correctly that's what I did, slid off to remove. There are some pictures that are useful from another thread showing spots for lubrication.
I don't have the links , but it proved useful in describing what was needed.
