I feel good knowing that KK once used Castrol oil before he found the 'right' oil.

Since you asked, I used Castrol Syn 5W-40 before JR showed me the light and "right" oil.

Just went to Pep Boys to check on Castrol Edge 5w-40w synthetic oil for my C2 and found some in qt.

While checking on spark plugs for my GMC 5.3, I was informed that the oil was on sale (5 qts.

Wait, here comes the good news....hardly any 'whiskers' at all on the magnetic drain plug, and no indication of any metal particles or for that matter, any other particles were found after inspecting the oil filter element.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Just went to Pep Boys to check on Castrol Edge 5w-40w synthetic oil for my C2 and found some in qt. sizes for $8.99 ea., so I picked up 9 qts. While checking on spark plugs for my GMC 5.3, I was informed that the oil was on sale (5 qts. and 1 Fram oil filter)for $32.99. So I added another qt. to my 9 and put in 2 oil filters for my truck and the bill was $65.98 They discounted the total by $32.30 and I have 2 spare truck filters. I started using Castrol Syntec for my last oil and filter change on my Porsche around 4k miles ago. Waiting for a Pelican order for 2 new cartridges (OEM) and drain plug washers, anxious to see how many 'whiskers' are on my magnetic drain plug, and the condition of the oil and filter after dissection. I'll post pics once I get the new filters.
+1. Been my flavor going on 3 years, with no issues and 98k miles strong.

Good for you OP, keep an eye out for flyers or the local parts stores, many have "Oil change specials". I went into my local AZ today for a quart (as I was a bit low)...a quart of M1 is just under $10 (I remember a few years ago it was $7.50), anyways walked out with a 5 qt jug and oil filter for $35. Just made more sense than spending so much more, when I know I'll need more some day.
Guess I'll refrain from any future oil posts. Just got my filters from Pelican yesterday, so I'll be doing an oil/filter change today unless my wife finds other things for me to do.
Wait, here comes the good news....hardly any 'whiskers' at all on the magnetic drain plug, and no indication of any metal particles or for that matter, any other particles were found after inspecting the oil filter element. I'm good to go for another 4k miles and 12 months before my next oil change. I feel good knowing that KK once used Castrol oil before he found the 'right' oil.
Now that's why I decided to start this thread Pete. You always seem to be able to create undue enthusiasm somehow when yo add comments, or pics. I do feel better now. What is their choice of oil?
No I haven't kromdom. The lack of anything on my magnetic drain plug and the virtually spotless oil filter element leads me to assume I'm good to go regarding the IMSB issue.
