Last week, I tried to unlock my door with the key, and the key just spun. I took my car to the mechanic and he checked it out and said that the door lock assembly needed to be replaced. He checked around the Los Angeles area Pcar junk yards and they want in the neighborhood of $400. Does anyone have an idea or suggestion where I can find a used system at a reasonable price?? I know that the words "reasonable price" is subjective : Any suggestions or ideas are appreciated The keyless entry stopped working a couple of years ago and I just never tried to fix it. When this happened last week, I replaced the battery in the key and it did not work

Couple of years ago I paid around $400 (and something for labor to have the tech replace it) for a new passenger door lock assembly for my 02 Boxster. $400 for a used one seems a touch pricey, unless a new one is like $800 now, which it may be. Maybe you should price a new one? Be sure to use your PCA club membership which in my area is good for a 15% discount on parts at the Porsche dealer parts counter.

Sounds like you only need the support lock assembly which is not expensive. Used ones should be $100 or less. The lock latch actuator is the expensive part. Recently changed my passenger side one (actuator). Easy DIY.
