Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

10 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

  • Rennlist: 1 discussions

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I have a new noise when I press and release the clutch. It comes from the rear (clutch) so it's not the helper spring or anything like that. Any ideas what's wrong? (File updated, MP3 file in zip file).

POST 2Original post

Your zip file does not work. Is it a whinning sound when you press the pedal? If so it could be the throw-out bearing. Not a cheap fix. Most people will raplace the clutch too. Some will also replace the ISM bearing.

POST 3Original post

Your dual mass flywheel may be failing. Have a tech take a look at it. Soon. GL Phil

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

The best description I can think of is that it sounds like a creaking spring.

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

This turned out to be the clutch fork. Had to be replaced (with a 997 part).

POST 6Original post

hi , have a part number of the clutch fork? did it make a big difference with clutch effort or where the clutches engagement point was?

I have the same sound after a track day but it goes away the next day. Could it be something heat related?

POST 8 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Made a huge difference in clutch feel, now it's so smooth. Not to mention it doesn't sound like a $100 car anymore. These were installed: 99711671201 Clutch Fork 99611671602 Ball journal 99611674100 Retaining spring 99611674300 Sealing Ring

Well I have tracked that car a fair amount but it appeared gradually during normal driving during the "rainy" season here in NorCal.

POST 10Original post

I had the same problem. There is a lot of pressure on the pivot pin for the clutch fork. 997/998 have placed a plastic part over the pin to take pressure of the pin.
