Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

10 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

just got back from a 3000 mile road trip stopped in Yosemite, Vegas, Zion and Escalante Utah in my 2000C2. It ran perfectly and was a pretty good grand touring car - I have owned the car for about 5 years and put on 45K miles on it - it now has 65K and it has been very reliable - average about $1200 a year in maintenance. I am getting ready to store it for the winter

POST 5Original post

Nice! I did SF Bay area to Vancouver island and back in mine with my son last year, no hiccups at all!

POST 6Original post

3000 mile road trip and 1 pic? Gotta have more....

POST 7Original post

Nice to hear a positive 996 story for a change. Reminds me of trips that I've taken by motorcycle. I'm sure you had a lot of fun.

POST 8Original post

Nice trip! I'm planing a long road trip now also, and Im really excited to use it and enjoy it

POST 9Original post

My wife and I drove from Fairfax Virginia to Stowe Vermont for a family reunion then up to Quebec Canada in a 1999 3.4 996. Car ran flawlessly and was a blast on the Maine logging roads on the trip home. Loved the 996, seemed more raw and unconstrained than the 997S I own now. 70K miles of reliable Porsche fun!

POST 10Original post

I attempted a 2200 mile trip from Louisville to Los Angeles the other week. You can read about it here: https://rennlist.com/forums/996-gt2-...lack-6gt3.html For Colorado, go take the 40 Highway, it was stunning and a great driving road too. Stop in Steamboat Springs for a good meal. Also, if you're going that far west, why not make it to the ocean? I'd suggest Del Mar in San Diego or Newport Beach (or Laguna Beach).
