I am going to check the readings with the PIWIS today and see if something is out of spec.

I tried to use the switches on the dash and the gear above me tries to move a little but that's all.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

7 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I was out for a drive. It started to rain and my roof wouldn't go up. I had to manually put it up. When I got home I found the parking brake switch faulty. I replaced it and checked the fluid. The fluid was low so I topped it up. I tried to use the switches on the dash and the gear above me tries to move a little but that's all. If I extend the latch out and then hit the button it will fully close. But it still won't open. I hooked up my PIWIS to calibrate and I'm getting Function inactive, end position not reached. I metered the 3 micro switches in the latch and they are all testing fine. Any ideas what to do next?

POST 2Original post

My top was doing something similar. The hook was not moving in and out like it used to. Like it was struggling. It had a piece of coating peeling off of the side. The coating was jammed in to where the hook retreats. I dug the stuff out with a small screwdriver and the top started working properly.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I pulled the assembly out and moved the gear back and forth freely. I am going to check the readings with the PIWIS today and see if something is out of spec.

POST 4Original post

Maybe you need to rotate the clamshell (compartment lid) position potentiometer or the convertible top postition potentiometer to be in a certain range before calibrating? Just a thought. Here are all the switches: Note that from 2003 on the max speed is 30 mph

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Great pics! I'll check and post my findings.

POST 7 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I did the recalibration from the service manual. My gear for the latch was out of sync. Relaligned it but the roof still won't open. The latch unlocks and locks but that's about it. Any ideas what to look for?
